On 4 December 2024, the UTAR International Institute of Media (IIM) was officially launched. Five teams of UTAR Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Bachelor of Science (Honours) Architecture students shined at the 7th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area-ASEAN International University Bamboo Design and Construction Competition (Malaysia Level). The teams won a total of seven awards, namely Champion, First Runner-up, Second Runner-up, two Honourable Mentions, Design Innovation Award, and Most Popular Design Award.

The UTAR Surgical Society team made UTAR proud as they emerged as the champion at the 2nd International Intervarsity Surgical Based Quiz 2024. Organised by the Surgical Based Department, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak, the medical competition saw keen competitions among medical students from across Malaysia.
The UTAR team, comprising Year 5 Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) students Kang Shu Ting, Soh Joe, and Shun Kah Hoe. The winning team was guided by Assoc Prof Dr Yan Naing Soe and Dr Divyangana Kiran Vartak, esteemed consultants and trainers from the Department of Surgery and Department of Population Medicine at UTAR M. Assoc Prof Ir Ts Dr Yew Ming Kun from Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science received an outstanding accolade at the 13th International Conference on Material Science and Engineering Technology (ICMSET-2024).
Dr Yew’s groundbreaking presentation, titled Novel Eco-Friendly Ultra-Lightweight Foamed Fibre-Reinforced Floating Concrete, earned him the award for Excellent Invited Speech. The research focused on developing sustainable, ultra-lightweight concrete with potential applications in the construction and aquaculture industries.
拉曼大学（優大）李光前理工学院学术人员姚明坤副教授于“2024年第13届国际材料科学与工程技术会议”（ICMSET-2024）上荣获“优秀受邀演讲奖”。
姚明坤副教授发表的主题演讲题为《采用新型环保超轻纤维来增强漂浮混凝土》。此项研究着重于开发能够广泛应用的可持续超轻混凝土，在建筑与水产养殖领域上具有突破性意义。

The visit focused on fostering discussions around the development of the “Twin Parks” (CMQIP and Malaysia–China Kuantan Industrial Park, MCKIP), cooperation for the next academic conference and exploration of other potential collaborations.

UTAR welcomed a delegation from Wuzhou University (WZU), China, to its Sungai Long Campus on 18 December 2024 to discuss potential collaboration and strengthen ties between the two institutions.
The delegation consisted of WZU Vice President Prof Qin Xiongbiao, Human Affairs Office Director Prof Zhu Lianghua, Academic Affairs Deputy Director Assoc Prof Zhang Junjie and Translator Mr Cen Haobin.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Faculty of Accountancy and Management Dean Dr Pok Wei Fong, Centre for International Student Recruitment and Education Collaboration Senior Assistant Manager Ms Ng Beng Mui and Office of International Affairs (OIA) Assistant Manager Ms Wang Yiling. Also joining them online via Microsoft Teams were OIA Deputy Director Assoc Prof Dr Chen, I-Chi and Department of Soft Skills Competency (Sungai Long Campus) Head Ms Fook Oi Yee.
Laying the groundwork for future collaborations, the discussion between the two parties focused on potential collaborations, including staff and student mobility programmes, talent cultivation, industry-university research collaboration and more. | 145 |

来访的嘉宾有梧州学院党委常委兼副校长覃雄彪教授、人事处处长朱良华教授、教务处副处长张俊杰副教授以及翻译员岑浩彬。

广州城建职业学院的代表于12月19日到访了拉曼大学（優大；UTAR）双溪龙校区，以洽谈未来在办学、授课、研究、共建实习实训基地、联合组队参加国际比赛、学生专升本和教师攻读硕士博等相关合作事宜。
本次访问拉曼大学的访客包括了机电工程学院院长周立求教授、副院长李有兵副教授、副院长牟海荣副教授以及外事办公室副主任朱春娥。

The visit aimed to explore potential collaborative opportunities, including joint research projects, participation in international competitions, internships, and other initiatives.
