What if talking about death could begin with curiosity, rather than fear?
This is an interactive experience that invites you to think, talk, and reflect on death, before you have to confront it., You will find a series of prompts, drawings, and open conversations that explore the space between living and dying🎨 You might sit with a question on your own, sketch a response, write something down, or talk it through with whoever is next to you✍️
Rather than presenting death as something distant or frightening, Dear Death creates a gentle space to approach it with curiosity, honesty, and even tenderness.
It’s an opportunity to have conversations we don’t often make time for and perhaps discover that talking about death can also tell us something about how we want to live❤️

What does it take to live with dignity?
Reflecting on 20 years of MIS research in the UK and beyond, this lecture will first set out the value of decent living standards benchmarks in addressing inequalities, exploring some key principles underpinning how dignity is understood within MIS research🧐
It will then detail some of the ways in which MIS research has and can be used in moving towards a more equal, less divided world – to inform living wages, to identify positive changes in public services and provision, to identify additional and different needs. The lecture will end by looking to the future, asking how MIS projects can help address the complex, ‘wicked’ problems of the next 20 years🤝

Join Wei Lin Ong ☘️ as she shares insights from her thesis research — which explored how connection to nature motivates and sustains environmental activists.
📚In her thesis, Wei Lin unpacks what motivates people to engage in environmental activism, and the role that a close connection to nature might play in sustaining that engagement. Through qualitative interviews with 11 environmental activists, she studied how their relationships with nature interplay with other motivations, such as learning, identity and community.
💡Come ponder and share about what drives people to be so passionate about environmental and sustainability issues, and consider how you can sustain your interest in your work in sustainability!

Caring for an ageing parent or loved one can be an act of profound love but it can also come with a kind of grief we rarely talk about.
As caregiving changes our roles, routines and relationships, we may also find ourselves grieving identities, independence, expectations and different versions of the future, even when no one has died.
The Weight of the Unspoken explores these lesser-recognised forms of grief and asks: what happens when caregivers don’t have the language to name what they’re feeling? Could being “grief illiterate” leave caregivers feeling even more isolated?
The conversation will feature caregivers Bertha Henson and Sharon Lim, who will share how they navigated the transition from established careers and identities into caregiving, and what helped them through it.
