🔔 ECONOMIC SURVEY
• Economic Survey is an annual document presented by the Ministry of Finance of India.
• It provides an analysis of the country’s economic performance over the past year.
• highlights important developments, challenges, and achievements.
• presented a day before the Union Budget in Parliament.
• prepared under the guidance of the Chief Economic Adviser (CEA) to the Government of India. As of January 2025, Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran holds this esteemed position
• The first Economic Survey was presented in 1950-51 and
• initially it came along with the Budget but it published separately from 1964, a day before the budget.
• India's Gross domestic product (GDP) is projected to grow between 6.3-6.8% in FY26 (2025-26).
• The unemployment rate of the country remains declines to 3.2%.
• The agriculture sector is expected to grow by 3.8%.

• NITI Aayog has released the first Fiscal Health Index (FHI) report.
• Chairman of the 16th Finance Commission, Dr. Arvind Panagariya, launched it.
• Fiscal Health Index 2025” ranked States for 2022-23.
• It covers 18 major States in terms of -- India’s GDP, demography, total public expenditure, revenues, and overall fiscal stability.

• Front-Runners : Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana,

🏅BHARAT RATNA
• announced annually on the eve of Republic Day.
• Instituted on 2 January 1954.
• literally means 'Jewel of India'.
• current medal is in the shape of a peepal leaf rimmed in platinum and a certificate known as a ‘Sanad.’
• The words "Bharat Ratna" on the obverse side and "Satyameva Jayate" on the reverse side.
• A 51 mm white ribbon is attached to the medal so it can be worn around the neck.
• Bharat Ratna recipients rank seventh in the Indian order of precedence.

🔔PAY COMMISSION🔔
• Neither a Constitutional nor Statutory body.
• a body set up by the Central Government that reviews and recommends changes to the salary structure of employees.
• composition of the Pay Commission comes under the Department of Expenditure (Ministry of Finance).
• Usually constituted every 10 years
• 1st pay commission was set up in 1946.
• Since Independence, a total of 7 pay commissions have been formed.
• latest pay commission was set up in 2014 and its recommendations came into effect in 2016.
• It is not mandatory for the government to accept the recommendations of the pay commission.
• It consults with central and state governments, along with other stakeholders, before recommending salary structures, benefits, and allowances for government employees.
• The Union Cabinet has approved the 8th Pay Commission on Thursday 16th January 2025.

🔔SMART CITIES MISSION (SCM)
• Centrally Sponsored Scheme launched in 2015.

• total Central assistance for the Smart Cities Mission was ₹48,000 crore.

++ Tiger Reserves in India
• Legally declared protected areas designated to conserve tigers and their habitats.
• The tiger reserves were set up as a part of Project Tiger initiated in 1973.
• They are administered by the National Tiger Conservation Authority ( NTCA).
• As of December 2024, there are 57 tiger reserves in India.
• The tiger reserves are constituted on a core/buffer strategy.
• Tiger Reserves are notified by State Governments as per provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 on advice of the National Tiger Conservation Authority.
• Tiger is an umbrella species.
• India is home to 75% of the global tiger population.
• NTCA conducts a tiger census across India every 4 years.
• Conservation status ::

- Wildlife Protection Act : Schedule 1

• NEWLY ADDED :: On December 2, India got its 57th tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary.
++ About Ratapani Tiger Reserve ::
• Location – It is situated in the Vindhyachal Mountain Ranges across Raisen and Sehore districts of Madhya Pradesh.
• Origin : It was first declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1976, extended in 1983.
• Rivers - It runs parallel on the northern side of the Narmada River. The Kolar River forms the western boundary of the Sanctuary.
