| 2 | What is the difference between linear taskflow and sequential taskflow in Informatica IICS CDI?
Linear Taskflow in Informatica IICS CDI:
In Informatica IICS CDI, a linear taskflow represents a sequence of tasks or activities that are executed one after the other, in a linear fashion.
Each task in the linear taskflow must be completed before the next task can begin.
Linear taskflows are typically used for straightforward data integration processes where tasks have strict dependencies, and each task relies on the successful completion of the previous one.
For example, you might use a linear taskflow to extract data from a source system, transform it, and then load it into a target system in a step-by-step manner.
Sequential Taskflow in Informatica IICS CDI:
In Informatica IICS CDI, a sequential taskflow also represents a sequence of tasks, but it allows for more flexibility in terms of branching and conditional execution.
Within a sequential taskflow, you can define conditional paths, where the execution of certain tasks depends on the outcome of previous tasks. This means that not all tasks within a sequential taskflow have to be executed in a linear order.
Sequential taskflows are often used when you need to handle more complex data integration scenarios, where different branches of tasks may be executed based on specific conditions or requirements.
For example, in a sequential taskflow, you could have branching logic that directs data differently based on certain conditions or error handling procedures.

| 9 | FAQ: How to configure Oracle connection in IDMC for multiple schema using single connection in CDI?
Solution : In Cloud Data Integration (CDI), whenever an Oracle user is created, a default schema is also created for that user.
Currently, Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) does not provide an explicit option of dynamically choosing schema names at the mapping level.
Workaround : Currently, it is not possible to eliminate the schema name in the connection. Therefore, mention the schema name in the connection properties.
However, it is possible to overwrite the schema name at the mapping level.
Example, the schema name given in the connection is schema_A and the requirement is schema_B, it is possible to give schema_B in the advanced properties of the source transformation as follows:
Assume that the data of table_B which is present under schema_B should be read, create a dummy table with similar metadata and a similar name as table_B in schema A. If this step is not done, then the mapping will fail at design time.
Select this dummy table in the source object.
During runtime, the metadata is created from the dummy table, however, the data is picked from schema_B's table. Therefore, the metadata and the name of the desired table and the dummy table should be the same.
Limitations:
The username given in the connection should have complete access and permissions to the schema in the advanced properties of the source transformation and table mentioned in the parameter file.

| 14 | July 2023 Major Release: Notification of an upcoming impact for native Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle connectors.
• Impacted release: July 2023 major release.
• Impacted service: Cloud Data Integration
• Impacted connectors: Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle
Announcement
This is a follow up email for the mail sent on 16th June 2023. Kindly review.
In the July 2023 major release, Informatica is upgrading the Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle JDBC and ODBC drivers.
Moreover, this release enables a new feature for users to control which driver to use, either the existing driver or an upgraded driver, based on specific requirements.
Are my existing mappings impacted for the upgraded drivers?
If you have applied the ODBC or JDBC patch to the existing driver package and the driver versions differ from those listed below, your mappings might be impacted.
If your mappings use following existing drivers, your mappings are not impacted:
• Microsoft SQL Server JDBC driver version 6.0.0.001071
• Microsoft SQL Server ODBC driver version 08.02.1018
• Oracle JDBC driver version 6.0.0.000840
• Oracle ODBC driver version 08.02.2432
How do I know the driver version that my existing connection uses?
To find the JDBC driver version that is used in your Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle connection, see the latest tomcat.log file from the following directory:
<Secure Agent installation directory>/apps/Data_Integration_Server/logs/tomcat
To find the ODBC driver version that is used in your Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle connection, see the session log.
For detailed steps refer KB : FAQ: How to verify the impact of upcoming July 2023 Major Release for Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Connectors in CDI? (informatica.com)
Whom should I contact for any questions?
For any questions, contact Informatica Global Customer Support.
Thanks & Regards,

| 15 | July 2023 Major Release: Notification for upgrade impact for Snowflake Data Cloud Support to create temporary stage and recovery state tables under configured database and schema.
Summary :
Effective in the July 2023 Major release, if you configure the parameters "PROCESSCONNDB" and "PROCESSCONNSCHEMA" in the additional JDBC URL properties of Snowflake Data Cloud connection used as target in a mapping with CDC source, the temporary stage and recovery state tables will be created under the configured database and schema in these attributes.
Am I impacted?
Effective in the July 2023 Major release, your existing mappings with CDC source and target as Snowflake Data Cloud having the parameters "PROCESSCONNSCHEMA" and "PROCESSCONNDB" set at additional JDBC URL of the connection are impacted.
How do I address this issue?
You can remove "PROCESSCONNSCHEMA" and "PROCESSCONNDB" from the additional JDBC URL of the target connection, if not needed or provide sufficient permission to create temporary stage and recovery state tables under configured database and schema configured in the parameters.
Who do I contact if I have queries?
If you have any technical issues, click here to open a support case or to contact Global Customer Support.
Thanks & Regards,

| 17 | HOW TO: Access the metadata table similar to PowerCenter in IICS
Solution : In PowerCenter the server is maintained at the customer end, hence all the tables are saved in the database and you will be able to query for the metadata tables. However, in Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) all the metadata information is maintained at the Informatica cloud server and hence it is not shareable.
The following are the ways to retrieve the metadata of the tasks:
1. From the cloud UI, download the mapping xml, by navigating to the task on the Explore page > click Actions (right corner) > click Download XML. The XML for that particular task gets downloaded.
2. Using REST APIs it is possible to retrieve all metadata of the tasks in the Org.
Refer to the following documentation on the REST API:

| 19 | HOW to set DTM configuration properties at the individual task level instead of secure agent level in IICS?
Solution : DTM configuration properties at the individual task level can only be done for Mapping Task by using 'Custom Properties' in Advanced Session Properties with UseCustomSessionConfig enabled at DIS
Step1:
1. In Administrator, select Runtime Environments.
2. Select the Secure Agent for which you want to add the UseCustomSessionConfig custom property.
3. In the Custom Configuration Details section, select the service as Data Integration Server.
4. Select the Type as DTM for the Data Integration Server.
5. In the Name field, specify the name of the flag as UseCustomSessionConfig.
6. In the Value field, provide the value as Yes.
[Step1 is mandatory for any 'Custom Properties' to be honored]
Step2:
1. Edit the Mapping Task and add 'Custom Properties' in Advanced Session Properties
2. Add name-value pair of DTM property.
