| 10 | I felt like writing tonight so here's something I wrote:
In the depths of the infernal beyond the grey mountains lies an enchanted castle upon a rocky mountain. The lights of it's tall windows is emanated by an organized assortment of candles, some melted to it's core while others their wicks barely touched by a flame. Despite the wide range of candles, the castle seems dimly lit, the small embers illuminating the interior, corners of the rooms revealing gruesome and snarling gargoyles and beasts posing intimidating those who dare walk their halls in the dead of night.
A bedroom door is opened, a candle is floating and is dancing amongst the dark corridors: It was an Owl - well not any owl, but an anthropomorphic one. His crown neatly symmetrical, softly glowing from the candle light. His cape streak free and gently woven. The figure carefully used the candle's dim luminescence to traverse the corridors of his castle, it felt as though his candle light was keeping the gargoyles and beasts at a safe distant unsure of the glowing light that the Owl carried.
Once he reached a door, he carefully opened it -- as the door slowly creaked opened the feathered one felt a softly gust pulling him in, scents of paper, books rather, wafted through his nose. A library. The Owl placed his favorite candlestick on the table; with a little shift of his hips he carefully puffed his cape and swiftly sat to avoid sitting on his cape. His feathery hands eagerly opened up to his favorite book, it was about growing the perfect vegetable garden. Almost an hour went by, the Owl buried deep into his book.
Tap...Tap...
A noise jolted the bird from his focus, his feathers puffed, his beak almost clicking in defense.
Tap...Tap...
The owl looked around grabbing a nearby candle, his awareness tingled, was someone watching him? Tap...Tap...Tap... Water was slowly falling from his tall reflective windows. It was rain. Is there rain in such a dark place like that? I like to think so, how else would they make the perfect vegetable garden? | 343 |
