Read this little-known story of how the mighty Gahadavala Empire built a solid deterrent against alien Islamic invasions using a fiscal measure called the Turushka-Danda. https://www.dharmadispatch.in/history/turushka-danda-a-hindu-fiscal-response-to-early-islamic-invasions

Themes in Tabbaliyu Neenade Magane THE TRAGIC FATE OF GAU-MATA in post-independence India is embodied in the lineage of the Punyakoti cow and forms the canvas of Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa's Tabbaliyu Neenade Magane. One of the central themes of Tabbali can be described as culture versus slaughter. Indeed, few writers have displayed Dr. Bhyrappa’s unique and expert talent for projecting the macrocosm by embedding it in the microcosm. Tabbaliyu Neenaade Magane: A Detailed Exploration of Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa's Classic In the 1960s, Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa visited the famous Amul milk factory in Anand, Gujarat. He was given a guided tour of the full process of how milk on such an industrial scale was produced. The experience disturbed him and deeply moved him. After this, he vowed not to buy packaged milk ever again. This experience also planted the seed for Tabbaliyu nīnāde magane, the best work exploring the Hindu reverence for Gau-Mata, the ban on cow slaughter, and other related issues. How the Boiling Loins of Shah Alam II Extinguished the Mughal Empire You cannot find a sicker man than Shah Alam II. He was the ultimate posterboy of depravity. His boiling loins neither cooled down nor rested even after he was blinded at age sixty. He maintained a city-sized Zenana, which bloated in direct proportion to his engorged lust. According to one eyewitness estimate, he maintained 500 women and had birthed more than 80 children! -- Do read the full details! 🙏😡 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/history/how-the-boiling-loins-of-shah-alam-ii-extinguished-the-mughal-empire

Cowardice, Servility, Sleaze and Shamelessness: A Brief Profile of Shah Alam II You will not see a much worse "emperor" of the Mughal dynasty than Shah Alam II. This 11th descendant of Aurangzeb singlehandedly ruined whatever was left of the Mughal Empire. It was under him that the Mughal "Empire" became a satellite state of the Maratha Empire. The Jats and the Sikhs fought an extraordinary saga of recovering Sanatana independence from the hated Mughals. The Sikhs forced him to fund the construction of the Sis Ganj, Rakabganj, Bangla Sahib, Mata Sundri and Majnu ka Tilla Gurudwaras. -- Do read this extraordinary essay in full and share it among all Sanatanis! 📑🙏🕉🛕🪔 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/history/cowardice-servility-sleaze-and-shamelessness-a-brief-profile-of-shah-alam-ii

S.L. Bhyrappa: End of an Era The titan heaved his last sigh last week, marking the end of an era in Indian literature. Till the end, S.L. Bhyrappa remained fiercely independent in life and writing. He walked a path that he had carved with the chisel of his convictions. None have dared to even attempt treading upon it. Blessed are those who have savoured his work; doubly blessed are those who have savoured his work and known him personally; those who have done neither are suffering the curse of some medieval witch. In that order. To my mind, only one word describes S.L. Bhyrappa and his bequest: Ghana-Sattva. -- My tribute. 🕉️🪔 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/commentary/sl-bhyrappa-end-of-an-era

Art, Artist and Artistry in K. Viswanath’s Cinema: Episode 2 K. Viswanath's Sirivennela is one of the best artistic showcases of the spiritual ideals of Sanatana Dharma. The protagonists include Hari Prasad, a blind flutist and Suhasini, a mute painter. In a particularly evocative scene, she paints his nose as a flute implying that music is his very breath. In the same movie, the superb lyric embodied in Adi Bhikshuvu, catapulted Sitarama Sastry to permanent lyrical stardom. The lyric tells us that it’s futile to ask anything of Shiva who is himself a beggar and ash is the only thing he can give us. It’s an exceptional rendering of an individual’s attitude towards accepting handicaps instead of trying to change it or getting unduly agitated. --- Read the whole brilliant piece! 👍🕉🛕🪔 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/culture/art-artist-and-artistry-in-k-viswanaths-cinema-episode-2
