BITOTS SPOT :- is a sharply defined gray or white triangular ,oval,or irregular lession involving the exposed portion of the bulbar conjuctiva oftenly bilatral ...due to keratinization of the conjuctival epithelium....and is considered to be one of the classical features of vit A defeciency
it has been also seen in cases of pellegra,and in well-nurished individuals giving possibility that exposure,dusting and actinic stimulationmay play a role inthe production of bitots spot
it has been found that bitots spot is an early stage of xeroophtholmia and may be associated with night blindness,extensive xerosisof conjuctiva,cornea and keratomalicia
treatment consists of oral supplements of vit A daily for 3months
