• It was written around 80-95 CE, long after Jesus.
• Not written by an eyewitness.
• The author is anonymous; the name "Luke" was added later.
• The writer admits he is collecting reports from others, not describing what he personally saw (Luke 1:1-2).
• Luke never met Jesus and was not one of the Twelve.
• Church tradition says he was a companion of Paul.
▪️The Gospel reflects Paul's ideas:
•Salvation by faith
•Focus on Gentiles
• Less emphasis on Jewish law.
• Paul wrote before the Gospels, even though he never met Jesus in real life.
• The Gospel is written in educated, polished Greek, showing a Hellenistic author, not a Palestinian Aramaic speaker.
• The same author wrote Acts, presenting Paul as fully supported by the disciples, while Paul himself admits serious disagreements with them.
