Una lettera a Carlo Giuliani
Nel 25º anniversario della Battaglia di Genova
https://crimethinc.com/2026/07/20/una-lettera-a-carlo-giuliani-nel-25o-anniversario-della-battaglia-di-genova-1

On July 29, 1900, the anarchist Gaetano Bresci assassinated King Umberto of Italy, punishing the king for ordering the brutal killing of hundreds of workers who were protesting rising food prices.
At that time, power and wealth were concentrated in the hands of an uncaring elite.
Whereas today…

"The power of the police, as the power of the FBI, the courts, and the federal government, is rooted in violence. The fact that the violence does not always come into bloody play does not alter the fact that the power of the government is not the integrating power of love but the disintegrating power of guns and prisons."

This is a good time to learn about how the state uses grand juries to collect information with which to attack social movements and dissent in general.
Here, you can read about how three people successfully resisted grand jury indictments.

What happened to the cop who murdered Carlo Giuliani?
These are his words about his life today, from
https://www.agi.it/cronaca/news/2021-07-19/g8-genova-mario-placanica-sprai-carlo-giuliani-prigione-infinita-13316957/
Even if you are prepared to murder for the ruling class, they will use you to protect their privileges, then throw you away. They're using you to kill because they don't value life—yours or anyone's.
We can't pity this man who chose to murder a young man like himself for the benefit of his bosses. He is responsible for killing Carlo Giuliani for a paycheck, much as he might pretend to be a victim.
But everyone should know that there is nothing to be gained from being a mercenary.

By removing the historical plaques from George Washington's house that acknowledged that Washington held enslaved people there in capitivity, the Trump administration wants to whitewash history.
Here, you can read about how the people that Washington enslaved or indentured sought to escape from captivity, and about the Native Americans who defended themselves against his attacks:

Protecting Your Neighbors by Following ICE Vehicles
A Guide from the Bay Area
https://crimethinc.com/ICEvehicles
Over the course of the second Trump administration, people around the country have developed models for defending their communities from federal agents intent on kidnapping and terrorizing. We have shared guides from organizers in Chicago and the Twin Cities. In the same spirit, we present this guide to following Immigration and Customs Enforcement vehicles, developed in the Bay Area.
The poet Juvenal wrote that the people of ancient Rome were bribed with bread and circuses to accept the end of democracy and the establishment of the dictatorship known as the Roman Empire. The classic playbook to accustom people to autocracy is to meet their material needs while channeling their attention towards activities that substitute for self-determination.
Donald Trump is trying to accomplish something more unusual: he aims to preside over the destruction of the last vestiges of the social safety net and the impoverishment of much of what remains of the middle class while buying off his support base with entertainment alone. His administration has not bolstered the economy but further destabilized it, as if intentionally rendering people more precarious, desperate, and exploitable. In return for this, we are supposed to content ourselves with watching the violent reality television gameshow of his presidency.
Less bread, more circuses.

Four people have died at the hands of ICE over the past eight days.
Jesus Manuel Arenas-Silva died on July 13 while being transferred between detention facilities in Georgia.
Here is an archived version of the official ICE release, which is surely riddled with lies:

The storming of the Bastille on this day in 1789 was essentially an anti-prison riot that won, spelling eventual doom for all monarchies.
When we topple the current ruling class and abolish borders, prisons, and police, people will celebrate for hundreds of years, too.

Tired of ICE mercenaries terrorizing your community?
Afraid that they're going to murder yet another person—perhaps one of your neighbors?
Find out where they sleep. Go there and make sure they cannot sleep.
Here's how people did it in Minnesota:

On July 13, 2019, Willem Van Spronsen was killed by police while taking action to disable the fleet of buses that serve the Northwest Detention Center, a private immigration detainment facility in Tacoma, Washington.
Willem's courageous action took place in response to Donald Trump announcing a surge in ICE activity. Afterwards, an ICE official reported that it compelled the agency to move more slowly and cautiously, likely protecting many communities.
Everyone should read or re-read Willem's final statement today:

Nine years ago today, tens of thousands of demonstrators faced off with over 31,000 police during the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany. Despite police violence on a massive scale, demonstrators forced them out of parts of Hamburg, creating liberated zones.
