Sheikh Bin Baaz رحمه الله said, "Indeed, it has been confirmed that the Prophet ﷺ would fast the day of Ashura, and he would encourage people to fast it because it was the day that Allah rescued Musa and his people, and it was the day that Allah destroyed Firaun. Therefore, it is recommended for every Muslim, male and female to fast this day out of gratitude to Allah, And it is the tenth day of al Muharram.” [مجموع فتاوى الشيخ ابن باز ١٥/٣٩٩]

And there are those who hoard gold and silver and do not spend it in the way of Allah, announce to them a most grievous penalty (when) on the Day of Judgement heat will be produced out of that wealth in the fire of leg, then with it they will be branded on their forehead and their flanks and backs. (It will be said to them) this is the treasure which you hoarded for yourselves taste than the treasure that you have been hoarding.(Al-Quran 9:34-35)

Prophet ﷺ was asked about fasting on the day of Ashura (10th of Muharram), whereupon be said: “It expiates the sins of the preceding year." [Muslim 1162]

Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said, "If a man insults you with what he knows about you, do not insult him by what you know about him verily you will have a reward and the penalty is upon the one who spoke it"
