This applies whether the person is under-trial or convicted.
Meaning:- "If you are in custody, your voting right is suspended."
Article 84 + RPA 8 - Right to contest elections
- Article 84 only gives basic eligibility (citizenship + age).
Actual disqualification is given under RPA, 1951 Section 8.
- Only persons convicted of certain offences are disqualified.

Under-trial prisoners are not disqualified So they can contest and even win elections
