Just as Andy Warhol started the Pop Art movement in the 1960s, Mike (Beeple) Winkelmann is writing history for the world of digital art today. Most of his art is done using OTOY's OctaneRender engine. Today the sale for the first purely digital artwork (NFT) ever offered at auction house Christie’s started. Minted exclusively for Christie’s, the monumental digital collage will be offered as a single lot sale concurrently with First Open from 25 February to 11 March. The auction house has also revealed that it will accept Ethereum as payment for the artwork’s principal price.
