Sisi Forced Al-Azhar to Delete Statement Condemning “Israel’s” Starvation Policy and Foreign States' Partnership in Genocide Sources close to Cairo Al-Azhar and the presidency have revealed that Cairo ordered Grand Imam Ahmed al-Tayeb to withdraw a statement condemning "Israel’s" starvation campaign in Gaza. Al-Azhar was forced to revise its statement and claimed the deletion was voluntary and intended to preserve ceasefire talks, as the statement "could impact the ongoing negotiations regarding a humanitarian truce in Gaza to save innocent lives." According to Middle East Eye, the order to retract the statement was issued by the office of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Despite its public rhetoric, Egypt has emerged as a central pillar of the murderous entity's wartime economy, with trade between the two surging throughout the genocide.
