Long post alert 🔥 Here I am trying to write my MRCS part A journey in detail as a lot of queries came to me regarding this Study materials that I followed: EMRCS Fawzia sheet Omaima notes Recalls of last 5 years My own hand notes These were enough to get 87% marks. I didn’t read from pastest or any other books. Time period: I wasn’t into clinical studies for almost 4 years after I finished my MBBS. So initially it was a bit difficult to start with. I started with EMRCS and hardly could finish 20-30 questions a day with an explanation. It was very hard for me to concentrate initially. And I could not remember anything that I read the first time. However, after a month my brain started to work and I could understand what I’m really trying to do. For me, it took 5-6 months to take my preparation. Initially, 3-4 hours of study is enough but during the month before the exam at least 6-8 hours a day or even more is essential. Strategies that I followed: - I made my own hand note to write down the keynotes/words whenever I go through an explanation of a question, which made my study easier & reduced my revision time - I still have thousands of screenshots regarding anatomy which has occupied all my 128 GB memory of my phone. I have memorized the photos, not the book. It helped me to get 71 out of 75 in anatomy. MRCS is all about anatomy. You need to master in this - I have joined in few study groups in whats app & telegram. I used to solve questions with the other candidates every day. If someday I failed to join them, I just scrolled their discussion later on. Samreen mams what's app group & Bishoy sirs master the MRCS telegram group helped me a lot. Highly recommended. - The significance of giving mock is inevitable. I used to give ‘master the MRCS’ groups mock every day. I can’t thank Bishoy sir enough for his effort in arranging this. During the last few days, I used to give ‘Genesis outliers’ online mock tests. It helped me a lot to build my confidence. Highly recommended - During the last week before the exam, I just went through the recalls & fawzia sheet. I didn’t study anything complicated or any new topic at that time. I revised my own hand notes and everything that I already read before. Some personal experiences: - I did take a lot of breaks. Due to my mental health issues & post covid complication, it was very hard for me to concentrate & initially I could not study for more than 10 minutes at a time. I took little breaks in between. But my strong willpower was enough to overcome all the difficulties. - During my preparation, I was totally disconnected from social media for most of the days. Social media is a real distraction. - I tried to do mindfulness meditation, yoga at home, sometimes a walk on my roof to make myself calm & relax during those hard days. It also helped me to concentrate & improved my memory gradually - I always tried to eat healthy. As I have severe anorexia with a very low BMI, at least I tried to have a healthy drink, fruits & nuts every day That’s all I could remember for now. If anything comes in my mind I will write about them gradually. If you have other queries feel free to write in the comment section. Thanks for your patience while reading this.

الحمد لله حمدا كثيرا طيبا مباركا ربنا وفقني في امتحان ال mrcs part A with score 262/299 (87.6%) MRCS part A exam is a five hours long, consists of a 300 mcqs in 2 papers, Applied Basic Science(ABS) paper 180 mcqs + Principles of Surgery in General(Posg) paper 120 mcqs Passmark is varying between 210 to 220 (70-73%) depending on the carve. -Duration of preparation : It depends on the person and the number of hours of reading, it's doable within one to one and half month. but generally two to three months as a maximum. *New changes : -It's recently became a computer based exam - online so you can take it at home in any laptop that fulfill their simple requirements. -ABS paper is divided into two session 90 in each. - in last years, trauma and orthopaedic questions become more common in Posg paper, so pay attention to this. - as it's be a computer based, imaging of x-rays, CT or clinical signs may appear in the exam. -Regarding materials and study plan:: Its important to know that you will not need any textbook or any other materials unnecessary for the exam except for those : 1- eMRCS : The main source, a very useful and informative mcqs With their explanations. It's very important to master it 2-3 times at least. There is an online version as well as offline one but no differences between them except for the fact that the online version is a little bit more updated. 2- Recalls : The previous exams questions, it's extremely important especially for paper 2. You have to consider it early not in the last weeks before the exam to get maximum benefits from it. 3- fawzia sheet : A 300 mcqs collected by Sudanese surgeons for many years. It's one of the most reliable/relevant past papers to the real MRCS exam. It's essential to cover this and master it very carefully. 4-Omima sheet : This appeared recently, a very useful points and short notes organized and categorized in chapters. I highly recommend you to review this sheet as soon as possible after you finished first wave of eMRCS. 5- Pastest : A similar but less important and more difficult to eMRCS questions, in form of mcqs and matching questions. Its not very important as other materials mentioned above, but it will help you with paper 2 especially ( orthopaedic, trauma, urology and preoperative and postoperative chapters) 6 - Study parter / Group discussion : This will be greatly helpful for you and your performance, discussion with others, solving tricky questions. -Here is a very useful group made by Dr Bishoy, a great teacher and amazing plastic surgeon who makes a comprehensive mocks exam that helps a lot : Master the MRCS part A Links for the material : https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=11_8YJJafZ2rQ2f0DazwJWSYzt_ufJGnu eMRCS 2021 updated version + fawzia sheet +omima sheet https://t.me/joinchat/AAAAAES54FmAJ22QZXvQRg Pastest https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1xz2BOvoihTX2LvwFDs2uhqw44pWds47S Recalls Mohey Aldien Ahmed MRCS April 2021 exam

Hii Everyone, I am a sudanese doctor .. I want to share my experience with MRCS Part A Exam Firstly I would like to thank everyone in this group as your experiences helped me a lot during my preparation. Special thanks to Dr.Bishoy Nagy ▪️Preparation Time :- - I studied 3 months, and this is enough .. - I think ideal duration : 3-4 months .. You will be more confident .. ▪️Materials :- ~ Applied Basic Sience (ABS) Paper :- -----> [1] Anatomy : eMRCS is very enough + supported by Google pictures, also I use some YouTube videos to clear some concepts -----> [2] Physiology : I just read eMRCS with some topics from Raftery book -----> [3] Pathology : Pathoma videos + eMRCS, but I think eMRCS only is very enough (study pathology after surgical specialties) -----> [4] Medicolegal aspects & Statistics : Dr.Bishoy's tips + Dr.Zaki's notes + Recalls (this more than enough) ~ Princples of Surgery in General (PoSG) paper :- -----> I start with Dr.Ramy Yousif Videos {discussing eMRCS 2020} & then go to eMRCS 2020 Ed -----> eMRCS : Repeat it 3 times AT LEAST because it is the core of the exam ((Honestly I repeat some specialties more than others according to their number of questions in exam such as trauma, orthopedic, breast & endocrine, pre & post operative)) .. Also I revised eMRCS from Dr.Bishoy Voice Notes which is very helpful & amazzing -----> PasTest : Study some chapters : Trauma & Burn, Orthopedic, Vascular, Pre & Post Operative, Breast & Endocrine & this if you have time .. -----> Fawzia Sheet : you should know it by heart, Dr.Ramy Yousif has verrrrry helpful 3 videos about Fawzia Sheet -----> Recalls : If you not master the recalls, you will not pass as simple as that .. You should know the answer to every Q .. Discuss recalls together in the group of recalls or you can scroll up the group, it is an amazzzzing group .. So resources in simple :- A) eMRCS : repeat it as much as you can B) PasTest : only once & only for some chapters if you have time C) Fawzia Sheet : repeat it 3 times at least D) Recalls : MASTER it, they are the key of pass ▪️Tips & Advices :- ----> Follow Dr.Bishoy schedule & you will pass In Shaa Allah ----> Do not enter the exam without doing Mock exams of Dr.Bishoy : they will make you familiar with the real exam, they will learn you to manage your time in the real exam, & they will come in the real exam .. So these mocks are very very important .. ----> Time is an important issue during exam : train yourself with mock exam & take care of time during real exam .. ----> Voice Notes of Dr.Bishoy : specially if you are on way to your work & so .. ----> Do not confuse yourself by many materials, many groups .. This group is very enough to pass .. ----> Last 4 or 3 weeks : just do Recalls, Fawzia Sheet, & your notes are the best one .. but you can do Omima notes (Excellent notes) ----> No need for courses, just follow Dr.Bishoy & this group ----> Set your target : a high score, if you do not got a high score .. at least you will pass ----> Online exam : do not worry about that .. For me it is better than writtin exam & more comfortable .. Again Thanks to Dr.Bishoy for all his guidance & efforts 💛 Good Luck 😁 Abdulrahman MohammedElamin

For January 22 MRCS part A examinee: Hi every body. I passed this September exam with 90 percent score with full time job. Here is my two scents on 'how you should prepare' if you want to pass within this short time. A. Resources: You only need three- 1. eMRCS 2. Fawzia sheets 3. Recall (Last 4 years) B. How to read effectively: 1. eMRCS: This is a very good resource. Infact it has answers for almost all questions that come in exams. The more times you finish this, the better. But You must finish this book atleast twice. One way to finish this collection of roughly 2400 questions book is to read ' Reda Herby Notes' first. Reda Herby Notes are basically collection of explanation of eMRCS questions. You can find this in the group's file section. My suggestion is first read the explanation & then try the eMRCS question bank. For example, if you want to read orthopedics from eMRCS, you first read all the explanation from Reda Harby Notes. Then open eMRCS & try the questions yourself. Mark the questions that you did wrong. Emphasize on these questions on your second read. This strategy will help you immensely & you could save a lot of time. 2. Fawzia sheet: This sheet has 313 questions. Its upto you how many times you want to read this material but you must know answer of every questions!! 3. Recalls: These are previous years questions. Far too many questions are being repeated nowadays. You must read atleast last 4 years question. While solving recalls, there will be confusion. You could search the questions on this group & check out the discussions. It will help you find the answers. Still if there is any confusion, you could search 'NICE guideline of e.g. Thromboprophylaxis'. This will boost your confidence. C. Topics that carry most marks: Applied basic science carries 180 marks. So emphasize on taking good prep of basic sciences. For this, eMRCS & Recall is enough to pass. You might take help from Netter Atlas while reading anatomy part. For understanding any concept or clearing any concept from physiology, just search youtube. Other than this, no other book is needed(Sorry Rafteryy & Pastest!) For principle of general surgery, most important is Trauma & perioperative care. Again, for these two, concept from eMRCS & recalls are more than enough. That's all for now. Jump on your prep guys. You shall pass InshaAllah! Those who wants to take this exam on April 2022, the approach should be different. I'll also post for April examinee InshaAllah. Take care. Dr. Nahid Urology resident Bangladesh

A short glimpse of my MRCS Part-A preparation : Score:92%(276 out of 300) Duration : 3months(According to Dr.bishoy's 90 days plan) Study hour: Daily 5-6 hours Study material : Emrcs,Fawzia sheet,Recalls,Salah bullets and Dr.Ramy youssef's youtube video on POSG and Fawzia sheet(Youtube channel name: MRCS GO),Dr.Zaki's hand note, images of from google. How i studied : ABS part: At first i went through the Emrcs properly then dr.zaki's hand note, images from goggle then Dr.Bishoy's exam. ABG from Dr.Ramy Youssef's video lecture. POSG part: At first i watched the free video lecture of Dr.Ramy youssef in youtube.then i went through Emrcs and Dr.Zaki's hand note properly. Then Dr.Bishoy's exam. Within 8august i finished Emrcs,Dr.Ramy youssef's video lecture,Dr.Zaki's Hand note and Dr.Bishoy's all exam. After finishing these i started recall(which i collected from Dr.Ramy youssef and Dr.parag dutta), fawzia sheet,Salah bullets and revised them 3 times within 25august. From 26 august to 4september: i revised emrcs another time and listened dr Bishoy's voiceshot. From 5 September to 13september: i revised recalls and fawzia for another 3 times. After all these things by the grace of allah i managed to score 92%(276out of 300) As i m a resident of paediatric surgery it was quite difficult to manage time for study. But Bishoy Nagy sir, Dr.Ramy Youssef Sir, my wife Caesarea Malancho (who also managed to score 86%),Dr. Parag Datta brother, Rayhan Bhuiyan(who always inspired me) Sumaiŷa AĹi apu(who always helped me regarding buying books or study material), Gazi Refoyez Mahmud Sipu Vai(who gave me the scope to manage my time for study),most importantly my family(my mother and brother) made my MRCS journey so easy.i m really grateful to them. I must say if anyone follow this group and Dr.Ramy Youssef's free lecture on youtube and His Recall collection, in shaa allah he will pass with a great score. I tried to read the pastest but it was too tough for me.basically it is not mandatory to pass /to make a good score. Finally : EMRCS: 2 times Recall: 6 times(from Dr.Ramy Youssef and Dr.Parag dutta) Fawzia: 6 times Dr.zakis hand note:1 time Salah bullets: 2 times Dr.Bishoy's voiceshot: 1 time Dr.Ramy Youssef's video lecture: 1 time( He is just a gem) Good luck Dr.Md.Akhtaruzzaman Shuvo Bangladesh
