A new world record was set by a Google Cloud employee
She calculated pi to 100 trillion decimal places. Google Cloud employee Emma Haruka Iwao and several of her colleagues announced that they have set another record in the calculation of the number of Pi - now there are 100 trillion decimal places of this constant.
Iwao-san and her team first set a record in 2019, when they calculated the number to the nearest 31.4 trillion digits. Last year, this record was broken by scientists at the Graubünden University of Applied Sciences (Switzerland), who achieved accuracy of 62.8 trillion digits.
Now Google employees managed to get their revenge, and now they are engaged in a dialogue with the Guinness Book of Records to register a new achievement.

Google developer finds signs of his own mind in LaMDA AI
Google software engineer Blake Layman discovered signs of his own consciousness in the artificial intelligence system LaMDA, developed at Google.
LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications) is a chatbot capable of maintaining a conversation on a free topic. It is based on the Transformer AI architecture released by Google in 2017.

The Dutch government has reached an agreement with Google on the use of its clouds for government needs
Google Cloud has signed an agreement with the Dutch government to use the cloud services of the American company in the work of the public sector of the country.

Google released Chrome 102
Google has released a fresh update to its own browser, Chrome 102.
The update included 32 security fixes, one of which closed a critical vulnerability.
All 32 "holes" were previously discovered by third-party cybersecurity researchers. The critical flaw, labeled CVE-2022-1853, is based on "use after release in IndexedDB"
It's worth noting that all of the flaws fixed in Chrome 102 are not "zero-day" vulnerabilities. Interestingly, the previously released Chrome 101 had 29 vulnerabilities fixed and none of them were "zero-day" issues either.
The update is available on all major platforms - Windows, Mac and Linux.
