| 20 | Gold prices are lower after the latest U.S. employment data showed a relatively small downward revision to the nonfarm payrolls numbers over the last year.
“The preliminary estimate of the Current Employment Statistics (CES) national benchmark revision to total nonfarm employment for March 2026 was -79,000 (-0.1 percent),” the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics announced on Friday. “The preliminary benchmark revision for total private employment was -178,000 (-0.1 percent). The annual benchmark revisions over the last 10 years have an absolute average of 0.2 percent of total nonfarm employment.”
Spot gold fell sharply to a session low of $4,543.80 in the wake of the revisions, which were released at the same time as Fed Chair Warsh’s Jackson Hole speech and final consumer sentiment, and last traded at $4,564.05 per ounce for a loss of 0.83% on the session. | 566 |
