On Power Posing Has it ever occurred to you that when you were listless and utterly lethargic, you posed a powerful stance, then lifted your mood and became confident at once? We call it 'power posing'. When you fake the posture of an emotion, you will start to feel it soon enough. However, there is no reliable source to claim that power posing can genuinely boost your confidence. It is merely a transient emotional state. Our emotional circuits and physical expression circuits are tightly intertwined, and that's why when we embody a posture, we evoke its associated feeling. In fact, it has nothing to do with our genuine self-confidence. It does not add up. To boost your level of confidence, you must take actions that instill it in your personality over time, and power posing is not one of them. Faking postures to get their feelings is a sporadic solution to apply when needed. It works for a short time, and the effect is not permanent. You should always be mindful of your level of confidence because it can wax and wane from time to time under different circumstances.
