Can a Suitor Pursue More Than One Woman at the Same Time? السلام عليكم ورحمة و بركاتة 📩Question📩 I ask Allaah that you are in the best of health and well-being, and that He blesses you, your families, and your efforts in serving the Ummah. I am seeking your guidance and advice regarding a matter related to marriage. A friend of mine and I are both members of a Salafi marriage channel. Recently, a brother who is seeking marriage first contacted my friend's guardian (walī) to propose to her. Since then, they have had further discussions, and, inshā' Allāh, he and his family are expected to come in the coming days to see her. However, the same brother has now also sent a marriage proposal to my father, which has left me confused and uncertain about how to deal with this situation. My questions are:⤵️ - Is it Islamically permissible for a man to propose marriage to two Muslim sisters (in faith) at the same time? - Is he required to inform my friend's guardian that he is also considering another marriage proposal? - Since he first proposed to my friend and has already taken practical steps toward meeting and seeing her, should my family and I decline his proposal especially since I do not feel comfortable proceeding with this person? I do not wish to wrong my friend, nor do I want to act in a way that displeases Allah, the Most High. Rather, I sincerely wish to do what is correct according to the Qur'an and the Sunnah. I would be very grateful for your advice and guidance. May Allaah reward you with the best of rewards, increase you in beneficial knowledge, and place your efforts in the scale of your good deeds. Jazākumullāhu khayran. 📨Answered by:📨 🎙Ash-Shaykh Abee Hudayfah Abdul-Ghani Al-Omaree((حفظه الله)) و عليكم السلام و رحمة و بركاتة As for from the Sharʿī (Islamic legal) perspective, it is permissible for him to marry two women at the same time. That is permissible. This is an established issue that the jurists have affirmed. It has been authentically reported regarding some of the Companions such as Al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah that at times he would marry four women at once. Some historians have mentioned this. So this is permissible. However, it is necessary to inform all of them. https://t.me/EngFatawaboxes_9_9_9_Bot

Did Khadījah (May Allāh be pleased with her) Continue Her Trade After Marrying the Prophet ((ﷺ))? 📩 Question📩 A Brother asks:⤵️ Does anyone know whether Khadījah (may Allāh be pleased with her) continued working after her marriage to the Prophet ((ﷺ))? And if she did not continue working, does that mean she entrusted her business to the Prophet ((ﷺ)) so that she could devote herself to the responsibilities of her household? 📨 Answered by📨 Ash-Shaykh Abee ʿAbdillāh Faysal Al-Hashidee (حفظه الله) And peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allaah, and His blessings. What appears from the authentic reports is that there is nothing reliably established indicating that Khadījah (may Allaah be pleased with her) continued personally conducting her trade after marrying the Prophet ((ﷺ)) Likewise, there is no authentic report indicating that she used to go out to manage her business or oversee its affairs as she had done before the marriage. What is historically established is that she possessed wealth and was engaged in trade before marrying him, and that the Prophet(( ﷺ ))traveled to Syria on her behalf for her trade before he married her. He then married her, and after the beginning of his prophethood, she became one of the greatest supporters of him with her wealth and herself, to the extent that the Prophet ((ﷺ)) said:⤵️ "She believed in me when the people disbelieved in me, she affirmed me when the people denied me, and she supported me with her wealth when the people deprived me." As for whether she abandoned trade after the marriage: There is no authentic text that establishes this. However, it is not far-fetched that she reduced her direct involvement in trade, entrusted its management to those who could carry it out, or placed her wealth at the Prophet's ((ﷺ)) disposal, since trade was generally conducted through agents, and owners of wealth did not always manage it personally. A great deal of her wealth was spent in supporting the Islamic call, especially during the years of the boycott in the Valley of Abū Ṭālib (Shiʿb Abī Ṭālib). Therefore, it is not correct to state with certainty that she left trade in order to devote herself to the responsibilities of the household, because there is no evidence for that. Rather, it should be said: We do not know that she continued personally conducting her trade, nor do we know that she abandoned it. What is firmly established is that she dedicated all of her wealth to supporting the Messenger of Allah ((ﷺ)) and his mission. Therefore, the correct approach is to remain with what is authentically established and not assert with certainty that for which there is no evidence.
