🌟–🏴❌🇳🇪 — Via Amaq Agency, the Islamic state Sahel Province (ISSP) claimed responsibility for two attacks targeting the Nigerien army in the Tahoua and Tillabéri regions last Monday, September 21.

39 Nigerien troops killed and two vehicles torched in two attacks by Islamic State fighters in the country's southwest. Niger – Tahoua/Tillabéri – Amaq Agency: The Nigerien army lost 39 soldiers, with others wounded, in two deadly attacks by the Islamic State in the country's southwest. Military sources told Amaq Agency that Islamic State fighters attacked a Nigerien military position near the town of Birni-N'Konni in the Tahoua region last Monday. The sources added that violent clashes ensued, resulting in 20 deaths and several injuries; the fighters burned two vehicles and seized 21 assorted machine guns and a rocket launcher. The sources also reported a well-executed ambush on the same day targeting a Nigerien army patrol near the village of Abala in the Tillabéri region. The ambush resulted in the deaths of 19 soldiers and the wounding and flight of others, as well as the seizure of 11 assorted machine guns, before the fighters withdrew to their bases.

🇮🇶❌🏴 — Two IS militants and a civilian were killed, while four Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) personnel, including a colonel, were critically wounded during hour-long clashes in Kirkuk Governorate. Earlier this afternoon, security forces cordoned off Altun Kupri as a CTS convoy of over ten Humvees and pickup trucks moved in to apprehend the suspects, who were holed up inside a local supermarket. The two militants were believed to be responsible for providing logistical support to an IS cell on the outskirts of Altun Kupri. Clashes subsequently erupted, with CTS forces engaging the two suspects using medium and heavy machine guns. Security forces initially held back from storming the building over fears that the suspects might be wearing suicide vests—a concern later disproven when they were found to be armed with only one pistol. The incident ultimately resulted in the deaths of the two suspects and a child, and the wounding of several CTS personnel, including the colonel.
