The Iraqi Revolution of 1920The Iraqi Revolution of 1920 was a major uprising against British occupation. It began in the summer of 1920 in the Middle Euphrates and quickly spread across Iraq, uniting tribes, religious scholars, and different sections of society in their demand for independence. Despite the revolutionaries’ limited resources, they fiercely resisted British forces. Britain eventually suppressed the uprising through overwhelming military power, but the revolution forced it to reconsider its plans for direct rule. As a result, the Iraqi Kingdom was established in 1921, with Faisal I becoming king. Although the revolution was militarily defeated, it became a lasting symbol of Iraqi nationalism, unity, and the struggle for independence.

The painting feels like a quiet story about humanity’s first moment between earth and heaven.
In the heart of the forest, a mother holds a sleeping child, embodying life in its purest form: innocent, vulnerable, and protected. Around them, angels gather—not to take the child away, but to create music. One plays an instrument, another watches, and another seems to join the melody, as if the world itself were once a gentle song.
Yet the child knows nothing of it all. He knows nothing of angels, music, or the world that awaits him. He simply sleeps peacefully in his mother’s arms. And perhaps that is the painting’s deepest philosophy: before we learned fear, we knew peace; before we understood the noise of the world, life was already playing a melody for us.
Perhaps paradise is not always a distant place in the heavens. Sometimes, it is simply a mother holding her child, angels playing softly nearby, and a moment of peace so pure that the one who possesses it does not even know how precious it is.
