The latest issue of the Islamic State's weekly newspaper, Al-Naba, features an article criticizing Deobandi political participation in democracy, specifically targeting the late religious scholar Maulana Muhammad Idris (killed in Charsadda on May 5). The article describes electoral democracy as "disbelief" and accuses Deobandi seminaries, particularly Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak, of producing leaders who legitimize democratic processes.
It singles out Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and its late leader Maulana Muhammad Idris, who served as a parliament member, for promoting voting as an act of worship. The article also criticizes militant factions (TTP, IMP) that have mourned Idris, alleging they have become tools of intelligence agencies by reconciling with electoral politics.
The piece contrasts the "democratic Deobandi" approach with the Islamic State's rejection of democracy and participation in elections.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has issued a statement regarding recent clashes in the Shanawari area of Orakzai province and Dorri Banda in Hangu.
The group claimed that its fighters maintained a three‑day siege on a fort and the Zargari police post in Shanawari, and that security forces shelled civilian areas with mortars and helicopters in an attempt to break the siege. According to the TTP, local elders and religious scholars mediated, leading to the opening of supply routes after the army reportedly promised a future withdrawal from the area.
Additionally, the TTP alleged that in Dorri Banda (Hangu), an ambush killed two CTD personnel and three police officers, and injured several others. One drone and multiple security cameras were reportedly destroyed. The group also claimed that six civilians were killed and 13 injured due to army bombardment in the same area.
Note: This post is based on a claim by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and has not been independently verified.
