There was a time we used to cry for small queer representation online and we would lose our shit with any small crumbs they gave us, i remember vividly we were overjoyed when "in a heartbeat" short animation came out, i was religiously obsessed with blue neighborhood album and its music videos and Cavetown songs and we used to watch skam norway hiding away from everyone, alone in our rooms, and totally hypnotized to see we queer people deserve to have a love story too without just some half hearted tension they fed us called "queer baiting" for to just keep the queer audience (whom are the fandom base) but not to lose the homophobics as well. there wasn't much but it was everything for young queers and it was very important to have them even when it was still frowned upon in other countries as well, and it wasn't till these days that in some countries queer people live with no shame and fear. we didn't even had much media so bold and so showing of how we love like how they show in straight romance media and its only being normalized nowadays. They used to call it abomination, sinful, weird and disgusting but they took a turn and now they use new words like overly sexualized, fetishizing and "too much sex". Queer people sex was always a taboo and censored to please the homophobics and its still treated the same even by queer people themselves who still struggling with their internalized homophobia and think its disgusting and should not be shown. Think about your reactions and words you use next times talking about queer medias that fight so much to be what they are now.
