A small shift I’ve noticed, and one that I think reflects the growing influence of Canadian nationalism, is that many French Canadians, including separatists, are increasingly referring to Anglo Canadians as Anglo Canadians, rather than as “English speaking Canadians,” “Anglophones,” or “English Canadians.” X is obviously a small sample size, but I think the vocabulary shift is significant. It suggests a growing recognition that Anglo Canadians are not simply English speakers, nor merely “English,” “Irish,” or “Scottish,” but something distinct. They are an ethnic group in their own right, shaped by the amalgamation of those populations, but no longer defined solely by language or by the separate ethnic identities from which they emerged. This is progress.

As Canadian nationalists, our opposition to Democratic America, the “Blue American Empire,” and the liberal postwar consensus it built does not make MAGA our friend. Red America has demonstrated repeatedly, just like the left, that it does not consider Canada a real country or Canadians a distinct people. Its figures have spoken cavalierly about ending our existence and have built rationalizations for why the life of our nation, rooted in some four centuries of history along the St. Lawrence, along with our posterity and continuity, should be extinguished and absorbed into their declining Babylonian imperial meat grinder. If given the opportunity, they can, have, and will interfere with our sovereignty by propping up separatist and annexationist movements.

“Fortissax, it looks like you’re supporting Carnegeddon.” Not quite, and I’ll give you my thoughts. First of all, when the shooting starts, you close ranks. Second, I believe Carney was parachuted into Canada by the Liberal Party and its international affiliates in the postwar consensus, particularly through the Europeans, whose true masters are Democratic America. The purpose was to stabilize Canada and save their project after Trudeau pushed it too far, too fast. Justin Trudeau and the Liberals accelerated so quickly that the Canadian state was barely capable of putting down a disorganized populist revolt by people who were, ironically, themselves liberals by the standards of a few decades ago. European governments remain loyal to the Democrat American led postwar consensus, and Carney represents an attempt to stabilize its Canadian component. That means cynically reducing immigration, permanent residents, temporary foreign workers, and international students. It means importing medical professionals and improving material conditions just enough to reduce dissent. None of this abandons the project. It simply makes it sustainable again. It also means remilitarization. The husk of the Canadian Armed Forces has to be rebuilt, by turning it increasingly into a mercenary force of foreigners, because the state has exhausted its social capital with Canadians themselves. Canadians will not fight and die for a postnational economic zone on stolen land named Turtle Island of fent fiends and they/thems, with minimal chances of home ownership and increasingly dwindling chances of family formation. The liberal postwar consensus also takes the threats of Orange Cheeto Putler seriously. Blue America, through its European vassals, can therefore utilize Canada as a feint against the United States because Canada is right next door. This project is essentially Francis Fukuyama’s End of History put into practice. Fukuyama argued that liberal democracy had won the great ideological struggle. Once everyone accepted individual rights, equality, markets, and democracy, the big questions about how society should be organized were basically over. What remained was managing it. The endpoint was what he called the “last man”: comfortable, safe, individualistic, concerned with consumption and personal happiness. But the purpose of a system is what it does, and in Canada, that means reducing the Canadian people into a sexless, raceless, genderless, culturally ambiguous blob of unilingual individual consumers, detached from nation, history, religion, ancestry, family, and inherited obligations. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of individual happiness become the highest values, until meaningful political disagreement itself becomes suspect because your vision of society might interfere with someone else’s happiness. Eventually, the only acceptable disagreements are over food, entertainment, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences. The Century Initiative’s proposal for 100 million Canadians by 2100 fits neatly into this logic. The historic Canadian nation becomes incidental to Canada as an economic zone. Whether everyone involved consciously understands it that way is irrelevant. Again, the purpose of a system is what it does. The silver lining is that Carney and the Liberal Party’s cynical attempt to fix Canada just enough to keep this nihilistic, civilizationally suicidal project chugging along may force them to rebuild the very things they spent decades destroying. Canada may have to rearm, pursue self sufficiency, build lasting national economic projects, strengthen the state, and cultivate enough national solidarity to keep the country together. The question is whether the measures required to preserve this liberal “end of history” will rebuild enough Canadian sovereignty, economic independence, national capacity, and collective identity to eventually give Canadian nationalists the means to reject it.

The sequence traces the story from Cartier and Champlain, the Filles du Roy, through the Carignan-Salières Regiment and its conflicts with First Nations, the British Conquest, the American Revolution, the Loylaists settling southern Quebec and the map of towns they made, and the intermarriages that followed. You see Charles de Salaberry crushing the Americans at Chateauguy. The felling of massive birch, beech and cedar trees. The rise of industry. It continues with John Molson’s ship, the Accommodation; which was the first steam ship in Canada, the seigneurial system with rectangle plots next to British style square plots, the Irish famines; the Scottish Highland Clearances; both triggering Irish and Scottish settlement of Canada, and Confederation. The Confederation imagery includes George-Étienne Cartier and John A. Macdonald, with two scenes recreated from well-known Confederation paintings. You see McGill university. The later images represent English displacement during the Industrial Revolution, the Darling Brothers Foundry, the Grand Trunk Railway and its trains, and Augustin Cantin’s shipyard, and imperial splendour. That Montreal was the meeting point of the two solitudes and the merger of English, French, Irish and Scottish. Every image is rooted in a real person, place, event, or historical reference, and every one was handcrafted.

My Canada…

To bring Canada into the limelight, to have its voice heard, loudly, forever. To never again have others attempt to speak for us, or define us. To not be a passive bystander, but an active player.
