These two groups are completely living in their own fabricated realities where Trump is their ally against Carney and liberals, who they hate each for different reasons.

It’s been fascinating watching Alberta separatists cheer Trump’s hard line on Canada, including U.S. demands targeting French language labelling and the promotion of Canadian and francophone content on streaming platforms, while openly sneering at French. They’re yelling at Carney for his stance enforcing bilingualism or what they see as sacrificing the country to appear Quebec and caving to French Canadian dominance. Trump turns around and declares that he would never interfere with French speaking Canadians and that he loves French Canadians, and Quebec nationalists I follow cheer him for that. The separatists are seething that Carney is LARPing as a defender of French Canada yet again, because they’re all flocking to the federal liberals and taking the wind out of the sails of the separatists. Two separatist camps, each hearing the version of Trump they want to hear, believe he’s their guy across the the border unaware of what the other is celebrating.
