FOMC Meeting – Sept 16, 2026 🏦
• Fed hiked rates by +25bp → new range 3.75%–4.00% (first hike since 2023)
• Vote: 12-0, unanimous
• Why: Economy still strong, inflation still high → hiking to bring inflation down faster (not a recession move)
• 2026 outlook: rate seen ending year at 4.1% (higher than earlier expected 3.8%)
• Most officials (16/18) expect more hikes this year
• Growth: 2.3% | Unemployment: 4.1% | Core inflation: 3.4%
• Fed member Warsh: inflation hasn't improved enough, but economy is strong — that's why they hiked.
Market reaction:
• Gold: $4,330/oz (up 0.9%)

📊 FED RATE DECISION – KEY UPDATE 🇺🇸
The US Federal Reserve’s 2-day policy meeting concludes today, with the interest rate decision at 11:30 PM IST.
🔹 Markets are pricing in a 92.7% probability of a 25 bps rate hike, which would take the Fed Funds target range to 3.75%–4.00%.
🔹 Inflation remains sticky above the Fed’s 2% target, while higher energy prices and Middle East tensions are adding inflationary pressure.
🔹 The US economy and labour market remain relatively resilient, giving the Fed room to tighten policy.
📌 Most important tonight:
The Fed’s Dot Plot and Chair Kevin Warsh’s comments will give clues about the possibility of another hike in December 2026 or early 2027.
