Microsoft has built a dedicated Windows 11 app that forces Bing as the default search engine across browsers including Chrome, Firefox, and Brave.
The app, Microsoft Recommended Search Settings, installs a Bing extension and asks you to switch your browser’s search settings to Bing. After setup, it sends you to Microsoft Rewards.
Chrome may warn that the Bing extension wants permission to change your search engine, homepage, and other settings.

NVIDIA has officially brought GeForce NOW to Linux with a native app.
The app is now available for Ubuntu 24.04 and newer, giving Linux users a dedicated way to stream their PC games through GeForce NOW instead of relying on a browser.
NVIDIA says GeForce NOW supports more than 4,500 games, with supported titles able to stream at up to RTX 5080-class performance in the cloud.

Windows 11 is getting closer to letting users move the taskbar.
Microsoft is testing an option that allows the taskbar to be placed at the top, left, or right side of the screen instead of keeping it at the bottom.
The feature is currently being tested with Windows Insiders and is getting closer to a wider release.
Microsoft removed this option when Windows 11 launched

Windows 11’s Weather app is using surprisingly large amounts of RAM.
In a recent test by Windows Latest, the Weather app used more than 1.2GB of RAM while running on Windows 11.
For comparison, Apple’s Weather app on macOS used around 247MB in the same type of test.
That makes the Windows app roughly 5 times more memory-hungry.
The reason is that Microsoft’s Weather experience is built around WebView2, meaning it relies on web-based Chromium processes rather than being a traditional Windows app.
And despite using all that memory, the app also shows ads and sponsored content.
Microsoft has quietly removed support articles recommending 32GB of RAM for demanding Windows 11 gaming.
The deleted guides said 16GB is “enough for most gamers,” while 32GB is the “no-worries” upgrade for demanding games, heavy multitasking, and large mods.
The change happened shortly after Microsoft reintroduced 8GB RAM Surface laptops.
Microsoft is also working to reduce Windows 11’s memory usage for better performance on 8GB PCs

Microsoft confirms it's finally replacing decades-old legacy UI with WinUI on Windows 11.
The company said that the new File Explorer Properties dialog was rebuilt in WinUI3. It is not a reskinned Win32 dialog. Instead, it's a proper native rebuild with dark mode, modern controls, and no WebView2 shell.
The Properties dialog traces back to the Windows 95-era property sheet system. It has been sitting next to modern Windows 11 surfaces for years, making the OS feel unfinished.
Microsoft says more Windows UI will move to WinUI3 next.
For example, File copy is already rewritten. Run got a modern version. The old “Switch to a local account” dialog is on the list, and the Start menu is also becoming fully native.
