A humanoid robot just ran 100 meters in 9.39 seconds.
Meet Tiangong Ultra — a Chinese humanoid robot that can sprint faster than Usain Bolt’s 9.58-second human world record.
But the impressive part isn’t the number.
A robot running this fast means engineers are pushing the limits of
Dynamic balance:
Running forces a robot to detect tiny changes in body position and correct them almost instantly. The same capability is critical for recovering from slips, uneven terrain, stairs, and external impacts.Actuators:
High-speed running pushes motors, gearboxes, batteries, and thermal systems toward higher power-to-weight ratios. Those improvements can directly benefit industrial and humanoid robots. Real-time control:
A running robot must synchronize dozens of movements continuously. Better controllers and learned locomotion policies can become the foundation for more complex physical tasks.Energy efficiency:
Fast locomotion exposes how much energy a robot wastes with every step. Reducing that cost matters if robots are expected to operate for hours rather than minutes.Mechanical reliability:
Repeated running produces large impact forces. Surviving those forces at scale can improve joints, frames, bearings, and other components used in demanding robots.Humanoid mobility:
Faster, more stable locomotion makes robots more capable of operating in spaces built for humans—stairs, corridors, vehicles, and workplaces—without requiring those environments to be redesigned.| X | GitHub | LinkedIn | Bluesky | Telegram

Anthropic is putting Mythos 5 to work in cybersecurity.
Anthropic has integrated its advanced cybersecurity model, Mythos 5, into Claude Security.
It can:
• Scan codebases for vulnerabilities
• Identify and classify flaws using CWE
• Rate severity and confidence
• Generate actionable code fixes
• Analyze complex attack paths
Access is currently limited to vetted organizations, as the same capabilities could potentially be misused offensively.
This is part of Project Glasswing, Anthropic’s broader effort to use advanced AI for defensive cybersecurity.
AI-powered security is moving from detecting vulnerabilities to actively finding and helping fix them.

I'm gonna go with what I want to happen in the future instead of the past.
The Next Chapter: Growing Beyond Addis Ababa
Addis shouldn’t be the only place where developers access events, hackathons, workshops, tech talks, mentorships, networking, collaborations, internships, and real career opportunities.
Developers across Ethiopia deserve the same ecosystem.
Connecting developers, universities, companies, and local tech communities across the country.
One developer community. All of Ethiopia.

Repost from Software Guy
Episode 4 is finally here! 🎙️🔥
I sat down with Birhan Nega, a software developer with over 10 years of experience, entrepreneur, company founder and content creator.
We talked about his journey in tech, building a company in Ethiopia, working with international teams, discipline, remote opportunities, AI and what genuinely separates an experienced engineer from someone who only knows how to write code.

Why do we struggle to consistently do what we actually want, while almost automatically doing what we don't want?
Because our automatic habits are often stronger than our intentions. You may love coding, building, studying, or working toward your goals, but your brain naturally chooses what is easier and gives an immediate reward. The important realization is: You don't necessarily lack discipline. Your automatic habits are simply stronger than your current intentions. And that's good news—habits can be redesigned. Instead of asking, “How do I force myself to do what I love?” ask: “How can I make what I want easier to start and what I don't want harder to access?” Don't say, “I'll code for 4 hours.” Say: Open the project → Work for 10 minutes → Continue if you want. Remove distractions. Make starting easy. Repeat. Because the hardest part is often not doing the work. It's crossing the starting line.X | GitHub | LinkedIn | Bluesky |

ለማንኛውም ዋናው ነገር ለመጀመር ስታስቡ "Perfect time or perfect situation" የሚባል ነገር የለም።

Sometimes we live according to decisions our younger selves made for us. We imagined the career we'd have, the things we'd accomplish, and the person we'd become. Then we grow up. Our interests change. Our priorities change. Life takes us somewhere we didn't expect. Yet we still blame ourselves for not becoming the person we once imagined. But your younger self made a plan based on the life they understood then—not a contract you must fulfill forever. You can change the goal without calling yourself a failure. Ask yourself: If I had to choose my life today, knowing what I know now, would I still choose the same one?
