They have a device which, once it has a lock on you, can atomize you entirely from anywhere on the planet or even in orbit. And who says they even have to clone you. Its literally a kill anything anytime you want machine

And it doesn't use your atoms. So clearly part of its function is to physically dismantle your being. If they removed that part it's just a cloner with a spatial component

Of course at the bottom of teleportation technology that doesn't physically transport all your atoms to the destination, is the implication that the machine just straight up kills you and creates a clone in your place. Because the original you does disappear.
