নির্বাচনের আগের রাতে ঝিনাইদহ–৪ আসনের একটি কেন্দ্রে ফাঁকা রেজাল্ট শিটে এজেন্টদের স্বাক্ষরসহ ২৩টি শিট উদ্ধারের খবরটি যেভাবে বিভিন্ন গণমাধ্যমে ভিন্ন ভিন্নভাবে প্রকাশ হয়েছে, তা নির্বাচনী সময়ের মিডিয়া আচরণ ও সম্ভাব্য বায়াজনেস বিশ্লেষণের জন্য একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কেস। কিছু গণমাধ্যম শুরুতেই একটি নির্দিষ্ট রাজনৈতিক দলের নাম উল্লেখ করে সংবাদ প্রকাশ করেছে, যদিও পরবর্তীতে দেখা গেছে একাধিক প্রতীকের এজেন্টের স্বাক্ষরের বিষয় জড়িত। এই ধরনের একপাক্ষিক প্রাথমিক উপস্থাপনাকে সিলেক্টিভ ফ্রেমিং বলা যায়, যেখানে আংশিক তথ্যকে এমনভাবে সাজানো হয় যাতে পাঠকের মনে দ্রুত একটি নির্দিষ্ট দায় বা সন্দেহ তৈরি হয়। শিরোনাম ও প্রথম ভার্সনের ভাষা এখানে বড় ভূমিকা রাখে। ডিজিটাল নিউজ পরিবেশে অধিকাংশ পাঠক শিরোনাম এবং প্রথম কয়েক লাইন পড়ে ধারণা গঠন করে। পরে সংবাদ সংশোধন, আপডেট বা ভারসাম্য আনা হলেও সেটি একই মাত্রায় ছড়ায় না। ফলে প্রথমে দেওয়া একপাক্ষিক তথ্যই জনমনে স্থায়ী ছাপ ফেলে। এই প্রক্রিয়াকে 'হেডলাইন ড্রিভেন' পারসেপশন শেপিং বলা হয়, যা ইচ্ছাকৃত না হলেও বাস্তবে রাজনৈতিক বয়ানকেই প্রভাবিত করে। নির্বাচনের ঠিক আগে এমন খবর নির্দিষ্ট দল বা প্রতীকের বিরুদ্ধে আগাম কারচুপির ধারণা তৈরি করতে পারে। যেখানে একটি ঘটনা ব্যবহার করে বৃহত্তর অবিশ্বাসের 'বয়ান' তৈরি হয়। একই সঙ্গে বিপরীত পক্ষও পরে এই বিভ্রান্তিকর রিপোর্টিংকে উদাহরণ হিসেবে দেখিয়ে পুরো গণমাধ্যমকেই অবিশ্বাসযোগ্য বলে আক্রমণ করতে পারে। ফলে একটি অসম্পূর্ণ বা তাড়াহুড়ো করা রিপোর্ট দুই দিকেই রাজনৈতিক অস্ত্র হয়ে ওঠে। The way different media outlets have published the news about the recovery of 23 blank result sheets bearing agents’ signatures from a polling center in Jhenaidah–4 constituency on the night before the election presents an important case for analyzing media behavior and possible bias during election time. Even if the report is later corrected, updated, or balanced, those changes do not spread with the same intensity. As a result, the one sided information published first leaves a lasting impression on public perception. This process is called headline-driven perception shaping, which, even if not intentional, in practice influences the political narrative. Just before an election, such news can create an advance perception of manipulation or fraud against a particular party or symbol. In this way, a single incident is used to build a broader narrative of distrust. At the same time, the opposing side can later use such confusing or flawed reporting as an example to attack the credibility of the entire media. As a result, an incomplete or rushed report turns into a political weapon for both sides.

লক্ষ্মীপুর-৩ আসনের বিএনপির প্রার্থী শহীদ উদ্দিন চৌধুরী এ্যানির নির্বাচনী গাড়ি থেকে টাকা উদ্ধার নিয়ে একাধিক গণমাধ্যম বিভ্রান্তি তৈরি করেছে। প্রাথমিকভাবে একাধিক গণমাধ্যম ৮০ লাখ টাকা উদ্ধারের কথা বললেও পরে কেউ সংবাদ সরিয়ে নিয়েছে আবার কেউ এডিট করে ১৫ লাখ করেছে। এই সংবাদের 'টাকার অংক' নিয়ে রাজনৈতিক 'বায়জনেসের' অভিযোগ উঠেছে গণমাধ্যমগুলোর বিরুদ্ধে। একাধিক সংবাদভিত্তিক নিউজ চ্যানেল ৮০ লাখ টাকা লেখে পরে সংবাদটিই সরিয়ে দিয়েছে। নির্বাচন কেন্দ্র করে গণোমাধ্যমগুলো রাজনৈতিকভাবে বায়জ হচ্ছে নাকি আগে নিউজ দিতে গিয়ে ভুল করছে তা বোঝা যাচ্ছে না। তবে গণমাধ্যমে এমন 'আচরণ' বড় বিশৃঙ্খলা তৈরি করতে পারে যেকোন সময়। Multiple media outlets have created confusion regarding the money recovered from the campaign vehicle of BNP candidate Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie of the Lakshmipur-3 constituency. Allegations of political bias have emerged against these media organizations over the reported "amount of money" in the story. Several news based channels first reported 8 million taka and later deleted the reports entirely. It is unclear whether the media are becoming politically biased in the context of the election or simply making errors in the rush to publish first. However, such behavior by the media can create serious disorder at any time.

Any interference in their work during news gathering, live broadcasting, photo or video recording and analytical reporting including intimidation, equipment seizure, movement restrictions or verbal and physical attacks undermines the democratic process. To make the election acceptable, transparent, and credible, the media must be allowed to work independently. Bangladesh Media Monitor clearly states that any attack, threat or harassment against journalists is against democracy and press freedom. We urge all sides to act responsibly, show restraint and play a cooperative role so that journalists can perform their professional duties safely and the public can receive reliable information.

This decision will restrict the flow of information, real-time verification and participatory public monitoring processes. Even in a paper ballot-based election, a complete ban on mobile phones appears to be an unnecessary measure. This restriction will create significant obstacles for mobile journalism and citizen journalism, which may negatively affect transparency and accountability during the election period. We believe that isolating communication or narrowing the path of information collection in the name of security is not consistent with democratic practice. Bangladesh Media Monitor calls on the Election Commission to reconsider the decision and to adopt balanced policies that ensure the information rights and communication access of journalists, observers and general voters.

During the election period, he will conduct structured monitoring and analytical reviews of media behavior, presentation patterns, word choice, agenda focus and indicators of partisan positioning.
