🇪🇸🇮🇪 Spanish security forces have been monitoring contacts between IRA dissidents and Jardun Koordinadora, a radical group from the Basque left, for some time. A connection has been detected between Jardun and Saoradh, considered by British authorities to be the political wing of the New IRA, with meetings between members of both organisations documented for at least two years. Jardun, with between 200 and 300 members, has been involved in episodes of political violence in the Basque Country and Navarra, criticising EH Bildu’s (the political party that emerged from ETA's political wing) “institutionalisation.” The connection came to light after the arrest of Aratz Bilbao and Malen Grunig, accused of alleged terrorism offences, along with Naoise Conron, an Irish citizen linked to Saoradh. The detainees, who have prior police records, were found with sensitive information about security forces and the possible location of weapons and explosives.

The so-called 'Battle of Carfax' in May 1936 was a notorious and violent confrontation between communists and Mosleyites in Oxford city centre. The communists had recently been involved in a famous bus strike, so a number of those workers were mobilised by leading CPGB activist Abe Lazarus. On the student side one of the main crypto-communist 'anti-fascist' organisers was Bernard Floud, who seems to have been a central figure in a less well known Oxford equivalent to the notorious 'Cambridge spy ring'. Floud later became a Labour MP but committed suicide in October 1967 while under MI5 investigation. The consequent Acton by-election in March 1968 was the first time the NF fought a parliamentary election. Their candidate Andrew Fountaine polled 1,400 votes 5.6%.

All part of a broader political fragmentation, among young and old, White and Asian, 'left' and 'right'.

The real problem for Reform UK from tonight's ITV documentary is obvious, even before the programme has been broadcast. Reform – and especially Farage – have themselves defined standards that they should have known their members (including senior ones) wouldn't live up to – especially regarding 'racism'. None of the stuff that has been highlighted in the pre-broadcast excerpts would have been especially shocking a few decades ago, or would sound especially shocking in most pub conversations even today (especially in White working class areas). It only becomes 'scandalous' because Farage and his top cronies have themselves played the game of demonising 'racism'. They are trapped by their own absurd posturing on these issues.
