⚖️ For years, the road to export ran through one place: the ECX auction floor. ⚖️ Vertical Integration opened a second route around it. ⛩ Under VI, an exporter owns the farms, washing stations or coffee bean purchase contracts directly with the farmers and outgrowers supplying them, so the coffee is sold abroad without ever being auctioned. ➖ That keeps each lot traceable to where it was grown, which is a big part of why buyers who care about origin like it. It also puts exporters into the chain much earlier, often with fewer hands ( like brokers, collectors or even stations ) between the farm and the buyer. 🌱 A related route, the Direct Specialty License, does an almost similar job for specialty lots bought straight from cooperatives and washing stations. #coffeewithayub #coffeeindustry #verticalintegration

Hellooooooo. It's so exciting to have the Observer joining us for this Open Mic. I've known him for a few years now, having seen him perform at previous events, and his talent is truly special. he was a close runner up for the Ethiopian Slam Poetry Competition. The first time I saw him, I was genuinely struck by his intensity. We've had great conversations about our experiences as creatives in STEM, and it's fascinating to see how he incorporates his background as a medical student into his pieces, especially when delivered with that deeply toned voice. I keep on pushing it. It's almost 10, and I'm still not home. I'm not there, but I want to see the edge feel the sharpness of what else. My eyes are closed, but I feel open. There is a different way to learn. I've read a term called "heart knowing"; I call it my knowing. Can I look into your eyes and make you squirm? I feel your stress, can you feel the fort I am holding? Damn right I was too tired, but I would have been jumping on my toes. Jesus, I am not a dot in your universe. A warm hug trapped and served on a screen. Animated movies remind me of how, even as adults, we need reminders of the soft themes: friendship, family, and believing in the unbelievable.
