Hey teachers,
Today I used Vocabulary Flashcards during the set induction of my lesson. The flashcards focused on ways of speaking and feelings. Through the flashcards, I introduced how writers use a suitable verb and adverb to describe how characters say something and a suitable adjective to describe how characters feel.
Using flashcards made the explanation more visual and interactive. Students could clearly see the words, guess their meanings, and think about how they might be used in different stories. It also helped them realise that choosing the right vocabulary can make their storytelling more interesting and expressive.
You can get access to the vocabulary flashcards here: [https://sirimanzakaria.my.canva.site/english-vocabulary-flashcards-ways-of-speaking-feelings]

Teachers, we’ve finally found a solution for generating listening audio!
Did you know that Gemini in Google Classroom can actually create an audio lesson for you? What’s even better is that you can export the transcript into interactive slides. This is especially helpful for scaffolding our struggling students, as they can listen, read, and interact with the content at the same time.
I’m sharing my attempt at using this feature for the topic “Famous Malaysian Mysteries.” For the presentation part (before the listening practice), I also generated my Slide Deck using NotebookLM so students could build prior knowledge before attempting the listening task.
AI is truly a lifesaver for teachers nowadays. It really helps to speed up lesson preparation while keeping our materials engaging and structured. I’m genuinely grateful for these tools.
Feel free to explore and use it with your students if you find it helpful.

Hey teachers,
I know the Grammar Translation Method (GTM) can be quite controversial in ESL teaching, and many people see it as outdated. But honestly, I’ve found it very helpful for my A2 learners who are trying to move towards B1–B2 level.
When we do translation activities, some students suddenly realise they don’t even know the English words for very basic things they often say in their first language. That moment of realisation is powerful because it pushes them to learn vocabulary that is meaningful to them, not just words from a textbook.
At the same time, translation gives me a natural opportunity to address grammar. We look at verb forms, subject–verb agreement, tenses, articles, and sentence structure together while working on their sentences. Students can clearly see how grammar works in context, instead of learning rules in isolation.
It also helps a lot when teaching the P/E/E/L framework in article writing. By translating their ideas step-by-step, they can see how to form a clear point, add evidence, explain it properly, and link it back to the main idea. It makes the structure less abstract and more practical for them.
Of course, I don’t use GTM all the time. It’s just one of the tools to scaffold their learning. When used together with speaking and communicative activities, it really helps build their vocabulary, grammar awareness, and confidence. Sometimes, going “back to basics” is exactly what they need to move forward.

Hey teachers,
I just created a supplementary webpage using Gamma to support students in completing their homework from the worksheet. My students can access it through my Google Classroom platform, and I’m sharing the link here in case you’d like to use it or adapt it for your own classes.
For those who may not be familiar, Gamma is an AI-powered tool that allows you to quickly generate slides, webpages, and visual resources for teaching. It’s very flexible. You can design content exactly how you like, saving a lot of time in lesson preparation.
Honestly, Gamma has been a lifesaver for teachers! Here’s the link:
