The purple pine butterfly (Rhetus dysonii) is a very beautiful cloud forest butterfly in the Rhetus genus. It is mainly distributed in regions from Costa Rica to Bolivia, and usually basks in the sun on the leaves of trees in low places near mountain streams.

The wings of the Purple Pine Clam Butterfly are based on shades of wisteria purple, with two bright white stripes running vertically through the forewings and hindwings, like a purple swallowtail gown at a ball, its flowing skirt billowing as it dances. The swaying bright red at the hem of the skirt makes it the focus of everyone's attention, romantic, elegant and lively enough.
