😳 Will WhatsApp ultimately be blocked, and what does the state-run messenger Max have in store for us? There’s no need to panic about WhatsApp being blocked in Russia — for now, it remains accessible. According to Sergey Boyarsky, head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, it’s too early to confirm any dates for a ban. However, he noted that the situation has evolved: Russians now have alternative messaging platforms, and foreign services face scrutiny for data localization and anti-fraud compliance. ⚠️ Meanwhile, VK is developing a new national messenger called Max, aimed at enterprise users. It will offer features such as: ✅Sending notifications and OTP codes ✅Support via chatbots ✅Access to verified user data (including government services) Initially free, Max plans to implement a flexible pricing model in the future — with licensing starting at 1,500 RUB per employee and message sending from 5.50 RUB per user. The full deployment of business solutions is expected by the end of this year. What do you think about it? 🧐 INFO from https://tenchat.ru/olgaberek #learners #businessenglish #business #news

Do You Need to Remove Old Ads on Restricted Platforms like INSTAGRAM* After September 1st? There is finally an official answer to this question! 🎙 At a meeting of the ROCIT (Regional Public Center for Internet Technologies) commission, Chairman Anton Gorelkin stated that there's no need to remove old ads, but there's always a catch. 🤍 If the old ads are left untouched and remain dormant, they can stay up. However, if a blogger refers to them or draws attention to them in any way, it will be considered a violation. ⚠️ If the ads start gaining views or get pushed up in search results due to network recommendation algorithms, Gorelkin says "we'll need to figure out who's responsible for the activity" that caused the ads to become visible again. According to lawmakers, old ads can't go viral on their own. If it turns out that the increased visibility is due to your actions, it will be considered an ongoing violation and subject to a fine. PS: If you are not ready to take risks, you better delete the ads though. 🔥 Our discussion with Anna today provides an in-depth analysis of the intricacies involved in corporate English training, emphasizing the diversity of teaching contexts and the associated challenges. We highlight the importance of understanding the specific needs of different industries and management expectations, advocating for a flexible approach that incorporates existing coursebooks while tailoring content to actual workplace situations. Ultimately, we believe that effective corporate training involves a combination of structured curricula, contextual adaptation, and soft skills development to meet the high standards expected in the business environment. Unfortunately, we didn’t have much time to discuss the recommendations for learners in more detail, so it might be a good reason to meet Anna again! ⚡️⚡️⚡️HIGHLIGHTS⚡️⚡️⚡️ 🏢 Fear of corporate culture: Teachers often feel intimidated by the perceived grandeur and complexity of corporate environments. ✅ Solution: Recognizing that corporate English is similar to general English, focusing on practical vocabulary and real-life communication, which reduces perceived distance and complexity. 📖 Use of generic coursebooks: Common textbooks like Market Leader or Business Result often cover broad topics without targeting specific needs, leading to irrelevant vocabulary. ✅ Solution: Using these books as a backbone but customizing content to include workplace-specific scenarios and vocabulary relevant to learners' roles. ❓ Unclear client needs: Management or HR may have vague or no clear expectations about what students need, leading to mismatched training. ✅ Solution: Asking targeted questions to understand actual workplace demands and integrating these into lessons, even within the constraints of approved course materials. 💡 Limited engagement and motivation: Learners often show low involvement or leave the course early due to mismatch or lack of relevance. ✅ Solution: Incorporating multimedia tools, real-life scenarios, and soft skills training to make lessons more engaging and applicable. 🕸 Navigating corporate expectations: Teachers may struggle to balance structured curricula with the need for flexibility to meet diverse company requirements. ✅ Solution: Maintaining a flexible approach, using the approved course book as a foundation, but actively tailoring content to meet learners' real-world needs. 🌟 Teaching top managers: 💼 Problem: Top managers may exhibit arrogance, underestimate teachers, and fail to show respect, which can hinder effective communication. ✅ Solution: Maintain professionalism, focus on your expertise, and adopt an attitude of confidence and resilience to navigate their behavior effectively. 💼 Problem: Teachers often realize that top managers are much more knowledgeable about the subject, making it challenging to assert authority or provide value. ✅ Solution: Be honest about your own expertise, adopt a collaborative approach by working together with the managers, and leverage their knowledge to enhance the learning process. 💼 Problem: Teachers often face difficulties when working with inexperienced or newly promoted managers who lack practical knowledge, leading to confusion and low engagement. ✅ Solution: Prepare extensively by researching the company's first steps for new managers, collaborate with the learners, and honestly communicate the level of your expertise to build trust and deliver relevant support. ‼️ You can use this as a podcast to improve your listening skills AND/OR gain some valuable insights and recommendations! Small talk. PART 1. Reacting. Small talk might seem trivial, but it's a powerful tool for building rapport and establishing strong business relationships. In my experience, the essential points of any small talk are: ✅starting a conversation/breaking the ice ✅active listening/reacting ✅keeping the conversation going ✅ending the conversation/exit strategies I will cover all of them but start with the second one because I really believe it’s the key to success. Here's why it matters and how you can master it: 🤝 Why Active Listening Matters: ❗️Shows genuine interest: People love talking about themselves, and showing genuine interest makes them feel valued and respected. ❗️Builds trust and rapport: Active listening helps build a foundation of trust and understanding, which is essential for any business relationship. ❗️Enhances communication: By actively listening, you can better understand the other person's perspective and respond appropriately. ⚠️REMEMBER:⚠️ We react IMMEDIATELY! We use body language (mimics and gestures)! 🎯 How to Practice Active Listening:Nodding Your Head: Simple but effective way to show agreement and engagement. 💡Example: Nodding when someone shares an opinion you agree with. 🔊 Echoing: Repeating key words or phrases to show you're paying attention. 💡Example: If someone says, "I'm really excited about this project," you can respond with, "Excited, yes, it sounds like a great opportunity." ❓ Echo Questions: Repeating only the subject and auxiliary verb or verb form, making it brief and natural. 💡Example: if they say, "We went to Paris last month”, you respond with “Oh, did you?” 😊 Mimics and Gestures: Using facial expressions and body language to show engagement. 💡Example: Smiling when someone tells a joke or leaning in slightly to show interest. 💬 Special Phrases: Using phrases that show empathy/understanding/interest etc. 💡Examples: "I'm glad to hear that.", “Go ahead”, “Congratulations!”, “Sounds amazing!” By mastering these techniques, you'll become a great communicator and build strong, lasting business relationships. Remember, small talk is not just about exchanging pleasantries—it's about connecting with others on a deeper level. 😌 Here are some materials for you on the topic) QUIZLET https://quizlet.com/ru/1059121212/small-talk-reactions-flash-cards/?i=29y018&x=1jqt Wordwall https://wordwall.net/resource/94652310 https://wordwall.net/resource/82463622 https://wordwall.net/resource/37617377 https://wordwall.net/resource/78710360 #learners #teachers #english #businessenglish #materials

⚡️ SMALL TALK is an essential part of the business process, yet a real nightmare for many business professionals. It's the foundation of successful networking and relationship-building. However,"smiling stupidly" and "speaking about nothing" is considered a waste of time by many. So, there is often a lot of resistance (conscious or unconscious) when I'm teaching it. What are your thoughts on small talk in a business setting?
