Cursor AI Hackathon Ethiopa
We’re partnering with Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MinT) and Ethio telecom to bring builders together for Ethiopia’s largest AI hackathons.
We're looking for idea-stage AI startups. Not polished products, not finished projects. Just a real problem, real users, and a team ready to build fast. If you've been sitting on an idea, this is the weekend to start it.
You'll have 20 hours to turn it into a working MVP, with credits and AI tools from Cursor and our AI credit sponsors: Addis AI, ElevenLabs, Fal, Whisperflow, and more. Food, mentors, and support are covered the whole time.
We're taking 60 teams. Have a team? Register with your team code. Coming alone? Tell us your skills and we'll match you into a team of 5, or fill your team's open spots.
Incubation partners will be in the room too, including MinT, the Addis Ababa University Startup Center, Gheero, and others, ready to back promising teams with mentorship, workspace, and follow-up. Investors will be there looking for ideas worth funding.

| 4 |  On Saturday, AAU STARTUPS in Collaboration with Tesfa AI, we brought together a different kind of room.
We invited founders from our startup community to sit with experienced business leaders, operators, communication experts, and marketing professionals — people who have built and scaled businesses in Ethiopia and internationally, some across multiple industries.
The goal was simple: exposure.
Because building a startup is not only about technical capacity. Writing code, building products, and shipping fast matter — but they are only one piece of the equation. Founders also need perspective, business understanding, communication, sales, market insight, and most importantly, access to people who have already walked difficult paths.
One thing we deeply believe:
Thriving startups are not born in hackathons or fast-paced, book-based incubation programs alone.
Real startup ecosystems are built through communities, relationships, difficult conversations, shared lessons, and long-term support systems.
It takes a village to build enduring companies.
That is the work we are committed to — doing the heavy lifting to help create a stronger startup ecosystem by connecting builders with people who can challenge, guide, and expand their thinking.
