Redox OS, the Rust-written operating system, published its April 2026 status report highlighting improvements for running on real hardware. Key updates include boot fixes, updated ACPI crate support for broader hardware compatibility, reduced boot times on multi-core systems, RISC-V hardware improvements, a tmux port, better CPU time stats, and improved Orbital desktop performance via partial window pixel updates. Kernel-level fixes address memory leaks, multi-threading stability, and potential deadlocks. The Bochs video driver was replaced by the VESA driver, and the Relibc libc implementation received several enhancements.
