| 20 | The ICC Trading Strategy: An Overview
ICC — short for Indication, Correction, Continuation — is a price-action and market-structure based trading methodology that has gained traction in retail trading communities, notably popularized by a trader known as "Sci." It is philosophically similar to other institutional-order-flow frameworks such as ICT (Inner Circle Trader) concepts.
The Three Phases
1. Indication
The strategy begins when price decisively breaks a significant swing high or swing low on a higher timeframe (commonly the 1-hour or 4-hour chart). This break is interpreted as evidence that institutional participants ("smart money") have committed to a directional bias. Traders do not enter on this breakout itself — it serves only to establish directional context for subsequent trades.
2. Correction
Following the indication, price typically retraces against the newly established trend. This pullback is theorized to serve two functions: shaking out traders who entered impulsively on the breakout (FOMO entries), and triggering the stop-losses clustered near those entries — a process often referred to as a liquidity grab.
3. Continuation
Once the correction has run its course — typically confirmed by price reaching a key support/resistance level or a supply/demand zone — the market is expected to resume moving in the original indicated direction. This is considered the actual trade entry point, with the position held until momentum fades, a new correction begins, or a significant level is reached.
Underlying Principle
Rather than attempting to predict future price movement, the ICC framework is built on reacting to confirmed price behavior — essentially reading the "footprints" left by larger market participants and aligning trades with the resumed trend rather than the initial breakout.

Important Caveats
ICC is a strategy that originated and spread primarily through retail trading content on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Discord, rather than through institutional research or peer-reviewed backtesting. Its execution relies heavily on subjective judgment — determining what qualifies as a "significant" swing point or when a correction has sufficiently "exhausted" itself can vary considerably between practitioners. As with any discretionary price-action strategy, outcomes are highly dependent on individual skill and interpretation, and there is no independently verified statistical edge associated with the method.
