YC Winter 2027 applications are open at ycombinator.com/apply. Deadline: November 2 at 8pm PT. Decisions by December 11.
Apply early; YC funds idea-stage teams, and ~40% of accepted companies have little to no revenue. Previous rejections are not barriers—about half of YC companies succeeded on a later attempt. Late applications are also considered.
If accepted, funding starts immediately, followed by three months in San Francisco with a dedicated partner, founder dinners, and lifelong alumni network access.
Requirements: One clear sentence on your product and one shipped item per founder. Apply if you are excited.

Repost from Sapphire Builds.
Announcing Vortex v1.0.0: Cloud-Native Distributed Video Infrastructure Engine
I built Vortex, an open-source distributed video transcoding and streaming platform written in pure Go. It ingests raw media streams, coordinates workers via asynchronous message brokers, segments video into multi-bitrate HLS playlists, tracks real-time encoding progress, and executes durable post-processing workflows.
Key Features
- Multi-Protocol Ingestion: Streaming HTTP multipart upload (32KB constant memory footprint) and high-throughput gRPC client streaming via Protocol Buffers with server reflection.
- Distributed Transcoding: Parallel FFmpeg processing pipeline chunking video into 360p, 720p, and 1080p Apple HLS master playlists and transport segments (.ts).
- Real-Time Progress: Live WebSocket broadcast streaming millisecond FFmpeg progress directly to web players via Redis Pub/Sub.
- Event-Driven Architecture: NATS JetStream 2.10 at-least-once message delivery with durable worker consumer groups.
- Durable Workflows: Inngest step-based execution engine with automatic checkpointing for poster extraction, animated GIF preview generation, and webhook delivery.
- Defense & Rate Limiting: Caddy edge reverse proxy with unbuffered 500MB payload streaming paired with an atomic Redis sliding-window token bucket rate limiter.
- Full-Stack Observability: OpenTelemetry distributed tracing with W3C context propagation across NATS, Prometheus RED metrics, and pre-provisioned Grafana monitoring cockpits.
- Cloud-Native Orchestration: Parameterized Helm 3 charts on Kubernetes with non-root multi-stage containers and CPU-driven Horizontal Pod Autoscaling (HPA).
Core Tech Stack
Go, PostgreSQL (pgx/v5), Redis 7, NATS JetStream, MinIO S3, FFmpeg, Gorilla WebSockets, gRPC, Inngest, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Tempo, Caddy, Kubernetes, Helm 3.

### Blueprint vs C++ 🎮
Did you know that Unreal Engine games don’t necessarily use both Blueprints and C++?
Some games are built using both, while others can rely heavily on Blueprints alone or primarily on C++.
Blueprints are Unreal Engine’s visual scripting system. Instead of writing code line by line, you connect nodes to create logic ig it can be simple it'smore visual. You can use them for gameplay mechanics, UI, character abilities, animations, AI, interactions, and much more.
And here’s the interesting part: Blueprints are not just “beginner code.” They compile into an intermediate representation that Unreal can execute, so complex gameplay systems can be built with them.
C++ gives developers more low-level control and is often used for performance-critical systems and core engine/game architecture. Blueprints make it much faster to prototype and modify gameplay.
So when you play an Unreal Engine game, you might be looking at a game powered by C++, Blueprints, or a combination of both.
The funny part? A game can look incredibly complicated while some of its logic is literally just a bunch of connected boxes. 😭🎮
I am gonna post more about characters and the abilities I am gonna use for the game next

Repost from Mr. SeeFun.Dev
A small resource I put together for anyone learning asynchronous JavaScript.
It covers Async JS in detail, including:
• The event loop
• Callbacks
• Promises
• async/await
• Data fetching
• Loading, error, and success states
• A complete example tying everything together
I tried to keep it simple while going deep enough to actually understand what is happening under the hood.
Check it out: async.seefun.dev

Someone once asked me in the middle of a conversation:"Precisely, do you see this Telegram tech community as building your personal brand?" And my answer turned into this mini article
1. This is NOT really about personal brandingNo ! I don’t fully agree with that idea. Yes, it might look like personal branding from the outside, but that’s not the real intention. The audience here is very, very specific mostly Ethiopian students, developers, designers, maybe some creators. And the nature of the content is not polished, heavily planned or “optimized” Channels are full of random thoughts. Sometimes fun, venting ,advice, tips, or just real-life updates. It’s not like typical social media where everything is structured and targeted. Instead, this space feels like: a place for people who are looking for support, guidance, and real insight into what’s actually going on in the tech space.
And honestly, there’s something rare hereYou are very close to the “main characters.” Not like influencers and online gurus. Here: you're not paying tons of money for advice or mentorship. People share real struggles and They talk about things they wish they knew earlier and creators drop real lessons And for me? That completely changed how I see things. Fr.
2. The intention is differentMost creators here are not chasing number of views ,CTR ,sales funnels, monetization They’re not trying to sell you a course or push “follow me for more.” You won’t hear things like: “You’re lost if you don’t know this tool” “Join my course or stay broke” Instead, it’s just: genuine people helping others in the tech space. The content is raw. It’s posted immediately when the idea comes instantly in their mind. Of course there is No production team , camera setup ,content calendar analytics obsession Because the goal isn’t money rather it’s connection and growth. @Digital_grind [ Dawit ]
