there exists a category of M4-style carbines and submachine guns chambered in 9×19 mm Parabellum—locally known as “Tees Bore” or “9mm M4” in Pakistan, especially in Darra Adam Khel, ex-FATA, Khyber, and the broader Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region. These weapons employ an AK-pattern operating system adapted either for straight-blowback or simplified gas operation appropriate for lower-pressure pistol cartridges. While the term “MP5” is often used locally to describe these compact submachine gun designs in general, this particular variant has come to be distinguished by its M4-style external configuration. Internally, these firearms are essentially AK-derived submachine guns or pistols chambered in 9×19 mm Parabellum (sometimes also in 7.62×25 mm Tokarev, known locally as “30 Bore”). To enhance the visual similarity to an M4 carbine, these builds feature custom-fabricated external parts such as collapsible stocks, flat-top receivers, and handguards styled after the M4 pattern.
