قال الشيخ سليمان الرحيلي حفظه الله: Shaykh Sulayman ar-Ruhayli, may Allah preserve him, said: وصية عظيمة أوردها الحافظ ابن أبي الدنيا رحمه الله في كتاب الإخلاص له، وأسندها عن معقل بن عبيد الله الجزري رحمه الله، قال: • A great piece of advice was mentioned by al-Ḥāfidh Ibn Abī al-Dunyā – may Allah have mercy on him – in his book Al-Ikhlāṣ, and he narrated it with a chain from Maʿqil ibn ʿUbayd Allāh al-Jazarī – may Allah have mercy on him – who said: (كانت العلماء إذا التقوا تواصوا بهذه الكلمات، وإذا غابوا كتب بها بعضهم إلى بعض: أنه من أصلح سريرته، أصلح الله علانيته، ومن أصلح ما بينه وبين الله، كفاه الله ما بينه وبين الناس، ومن اهتم بأمر آخرته، كفاه الله أمر دنياه، ومن اهتم بآخرته، كفاه الله أمر دنياه). • “The scholars, when they would meet, used to advise one another with these words. And when they were apart, they would write them to each other: Whoever rectifies his private affairs, Allah will rectify his public affairs; and whoever rectifies what is between him and Allah, Allah will suffice him with what is between him and the people; and whoever is concerned with the matter of his afterlife, Allah will suffice him with the matter of his worldly life; and whoever is concerned with his afterlife, Allah will suffice him with the matter of his worldly life.” ‏وما أحوجنا إلى هذه الوصية في أيامنا هذه، فيا أخي: • And how much we are in need of this advice in our time today. قال الشيخ سليمان الرحيلي حفظه الله: Shaykh Sulayman ar-Ruhayli, may Allah preserve him, said: يا من وُفِّقت للتوحيد والسنة، وسرت على منهج السلف الصالح، اعلم أنك قد هُديت، فاحمد الله واسأل الله الثبات، • O you who have been granted success in adhering to tawhid and the sunnah, and who have walked upon the path of the righteous predecessors—know that you have been rightly guided, so praise Allah and ask Him for firmness. وإذا كنت تشعر بالغربة لكثرة المخالفين وسبهم وشتمهم وتناقص الناس من حولك وتساقط كثيرين عن هذا الصراط المستقيم، • And if you feel estranged due to the large number of opposers, their insults and revilements, and the dwindling of people around you, and the falling of many from this straight path— فاعلم أن الخير مجموع في أربعة أمور: • Then know that all goodness is gathered in four matters: أن تصبر عالماً أنك على الحق، وواثقاً بوعد الله، • That you remain patient, knowing you are upon the truth, and confident in the promise of Allah. وأن تديم النظر في عيوبك وذنوبك، وتُكثِر الاستغفار، وتُدمِن التوبة، • That you constantly examine your faults and sins, increase in seeking forgiveness, and persist in repentance. وأن تكثر ذكر الله وتنزيهه عما ينسبه إليه المنحرفون، • That you increase in remembering Allah and in declaring Him free from what the deviants attribute to Him. وأن تعرض عما يقوله المخالفون، فلا تسمعه أصلاً، ولا تقيم له وزناً. • And that you turn away from what the opposers say—do not listen to it at all, and give it no importance. قال ربنا سبحانه: Allah, exalted is He, said: ﴿فَٱصۡبِرۡ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞ وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلۡعَشِيِّ وَٱلۡإِبۡكَٰرِ﴾ [غافر: ٥٥] • “So be patient. Verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and ask forgiveness for your fault, and glorify the praises of your Lord in the evening and in the morning.” [Ghafir: 55] وقال ربنا سبحانه: And Allah, exalted is He, said: ﴿فَٱصۡبِرۡ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞۖ وَلَا يَسۡتَخِفَّنَّكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُوقِنُونَ﴾ [الروم: ٦٠] • “So be patient.
