2018 is ending tonight, so I wrote down what happened.
A year ago Kenat was one npm package I built because a project of mine needed Ethiopian dates and nothing out there worked. Today it is a calendar engine in five languages (JS/TS, Python, Dart, PHP, Java), an Android app on Google Play, a headless UI kit, a CLI, and a Chrome + Firefox extension.

Excited to announce that Kenat Java v1.0.0 is now live on Maven Central! 🇪🇹I built a modern Java 21 library for the Ethiopian calendar — date conversion, Bahire Hasab, holidays, fasting periods, Ge’ez numerals, Ethiopian time, and more. This is an independent rewrite of the excellent original Kenat TypeScript/JavaScript library by @kenat_tool_kit. A few weeks ago I found SwipeDel on @Dagmawi_Babi's channel. Great app.
Later I wanted to install it again, but I couldn't find it—it was buried under hundreds of posts. And when it updated, I had no idea.
That's the problem. A feed isn't an app store.
I looked for a solution before building one. @blogrammer built Built, which had the right idea, but it's web-only and hasn't been updated in a while. Nothing existed where Ethiopian developers already ship software: Telegram.
So I built @made_in_ethiopia_bot—a Telegram-native app store for software made in Ethiopia.
