The word “awesome” is painfully overused… but here, it is insufficient. There is no single word for how incredible, inspiring, and borderline unreal this technology is. I know Elon has talked about selling them, but I cannot imagine vehicles capable of what we saw in the livestream ever being legal on public roads. Ever. Why? Because people. These will be track-only cars. Very few tracks will allow them to do anything other than keep all four tires on the asphalt at all times. I hope to see serious attempts at track records at the Nürburgring, Spa, Silverstone, COTA, Fuji, and other legendary circuits. Considering the above, this feels more like a technology demonstrator of the thruster system and the software that manages it than a car commercial. The real intent, the commercial within the livestream, is for drones. Drones that will be used in combat here on Earth and in low Earth orbit. Awesome. Scary, but also awesome.
