✅ઉત્તર ગુજરાતનાં બનાસકાંઠા જિલ્લામાં દાંતા અને આરાસુર પર્વતમાળા વચ્ચે આવેલું.
✅જૂના અંબાજી માતાના મંદિરની જગ્યાએ હાલ નવું મંદિર તૈયાર થયું છે. આ મંદિરમાં કોઈ મૂર્તિને બદલે ગોખને શણગારવામાં આવેલ છે.
✅મુખ્ય મંદિરની નજીક વિશાળ પટાંગણ કે ચોક આવેલો છે, જેને ચાચરના ચોક તરીકે ઓળખવામાં આવે છે.
✅દંતકથા અને લોકવાયકા મુજબ ભગવાન શ્રીકૃષ્ણના વાળ (ચૌલકર્મ) અહીં ઉતારેલ હતા.
✅1545માં રાજા માલદેવ દ્વારા બનાવેલ સુંદર તળાવ અહીં નષ્ટપ્રાય: સ્થિતિમાં છે, જે માનસરોવર તરીકે ઓળખાય છે.
✅શ્રીકૃષ્ણની પટરાણી રુક્મિણીજી પણ માતાજી અંબાનાં મોટાં ભક્ત હતાં.

⚫️લોથલનું ખોદકામ ડૉ. એસ. આર. રાવના માર્ગદર્શન નીચે થયું હતું.
⚫️ રહેણાકનાં મકાનો સીધી હરોળમાં બાંધવામાં આવ્યાં હતાં. રસ્તાઓ સીધી લીટીએ પસાર થતા અને એકબીજાને કાટખૂણે છેદતા હતા.
⚫️બજારનો મુખ્ય રસ્તો 4.5 મી. પહોળો હતો. નાના રસ્તા અને શેરીઓ 3થી 4મી. પહોળી હતી.
⚫️સામાન્ય મકાનો કાચી ઈંટોથી બાંધેલાં છે જ્યારે મહત્ત્વનાં પાકી ઈંટો વડે બાંધવામાં આવ્યાં છે.
⚫️અહીંથી મળી આવેલ વખાર 1,930 ચો. મીટરનું માપ ધરાવે છે. તે કાચી ઈંટોના 4 મી.ની ઊંચાઈના ઓટલા પર બાંધેલી છે. ઓટલા પર મૂળમાં 64 ઘનાકાર સમૂહ હતા.
⚫️મૂળ જળપ્રવાહથી દૂર કૃત્રિમ ધક્કો લોથલવાસીઓએ વહાણો લાંગરવા બાંધ્યો હતો.
⚫️ ઈ. પૂ. ત્રીજી સહસ્રાબ્દીનો આ માત્ર એક જ ધક્કો છે; જેમાં પાણીને થંભાવી રાખવાની યોજના કરેલી છે.
⚫️અનુકાલીન ફિનિશિયન અને રોમન ધક્કાઓ કરતાં પણ તે વધુ સારી રીતે આયોજિત હતો.
⚫️પાકી ઈંટો વડે બાંધેલો આ ધક્કો 209 મી. લાંબો, 34.7 મી. પહોળો અને 4.15 મી. ઊંડો હતો.
⚫️દક્ષિણ બાજુએ અનુક્રમે પ્રવેશ અને નિર્ગમ-માર્ગ માટેના ગાળાઓ રાખવામાં આવ્યા હતા.
