As always, found something random on my feed and got curious… so apparently this is how video calls actually work 🤔 Not even that deep, just curiosity but the science, physics, and math behind it?? insane. Your camera is basically capturing you as frames (images over time), and your mic records your voice as a signal. Then everything gets compressed using math like transforms (similar to Fourier / DCT) that turn images and sound into frequencies so they can throw away tiny details and keep what matters. For video, it doesn’t even send full frames all the time… it just tracks motion. Like “this part moved 5 pixels to the right” instead of resending everything. Then all of that gets broken into tiny packets and sent across the internet in real time (using fast protocols that don’t even wait if something gets lost 😭). And somehow, on the other side, it reconstructs everything your face, your voice and syncs it perfectly so it feels natural. LIKE??? This is literally signal processing, compression, networking, probability… all happening in milliseconds just so we can say “can you hear me??” math is mathing as always Anyway I just found this so interesting and had nowhere to say it lol
