Donald Trump Campaign: Iranian Hackers Behind Breach of Internal Communications Former President Donald Trump's campaign confirmed that some of its internal communications were hacked, following the receipt of documents by POLITICO from an anonymous source named "Robert." The campaign suggested that the breach was orchestrated by Iranian hackers, citing a Microsoft report that indicated a spear-phishing attack targeted a high-ranking official on a U.S. presidential campaign in June 2024. The documents received by POLITICO included a 271-page research dossier on Trump's running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, and a partial research document on Florida Senator Marco Rubio, another finalist for the vice-presidential nomination. As part of their operation #OpPedoBum, which started on June 29, 2024, they replaced the site's content with a confessional video, threatening to hand over user data to law enforcement. They also targeted the link exchange platform Yet Another Topic Link (YATL), which now displays the same video. Various other related platforms have gone offline, though it's unclear if Anonymous was involved or if operators shut them down to avoid being targeted. Anonymous criticized PedoBum's administrator for negligence, pointing out the use of JavaScript on the site to potentially identify users. This JSON database, according to the post, includes emails, mobile numbers, and QQ IDs. Tencent QQ, also known simply as QQ, is an instant messaging software service and web portal developed by the Chinese technology company Tencent. Tencent is one of the world's highest-grossing multimedia companies by revenue and the largest company in the video game industry by equity investments. The threat actor known as Fenice, who recently teamed up with another threat actor, USDoD, is the same one that reportedly leaked nearly 3 billion records from the National Public Data a few days ago.
