Repost from N/a
Again, I always go to sea as a sailor, because they make a point of paying me for my trouble, whereas they never pay passengers a single penny that I ever heard of. On the contrary, passengers themselves must pay. And there is all the difference in the world between paying and being paid. The act of paying is perhaps the most uncomfortable infliction that the two orchard thieves entailed upon us. But being paid, what will compare with it? The urbane activity with which a man receives money is really marvellous, considering that we so earnestly believe money to be the root of all earthly ills, and that on no account can a monied man enter heaven. Ah! how cheerfully we consign ourselves to perdition!

"The world is full of people suffering from the effects of their own unlived life. They become bitter, critical, or rigid, not because the world is cruel to them, but because they have betrayed their own inner possibilities. The artist who never makes art becomes cynical about those who do. The lover who never risks loving mocks romance. The thinker who never commits to a philosophy sneers at belief itself. And yet, all of them suffer, because deep down they know: the life they mock is the life they were meant to live." © Carl Jung @acceptthyself

"What you avoid controls you. Avoidance feels like relief in the short term, but every time you dodge discomfort, you strengthen fear, shame, procrastination, or resentment. Go take that one small step today that scares you." @acceptthyself

"You know, sometimes your mind plays tricks on you. It can tell you you are no good, that it's all hopeless. But I've discovered this: you are loved and important, and you bring to this world things that no one else can. So hold on." @acceptthyself

My main take-aways from the books I finished recently (READING CHALLENGE 2.0 Continues): 24. Peak - Anders Ericsson and Robert Pool - (Talent is a myth and this book makes the debunking crystal clear, all it needs to build expertise in any field), 4/5 ⭐️ 25. Advances in Empirical Translation Studies Meng Ji - Textbook published in 2018 quite old compared to the rate of acceleration being made in LLM translation but good to build and backup foundation understandings. 4.1/5 ⭐️ 26. A short history of Nearly everything Bill Bryson - I made a separate post about this HERE that should tell you everything, a must read. 4.5/5 ⭐️ 27. Troyanskiy Machine - The First ever Machine Translation, ideas suggested in 1933 (in theory but never got into full application), concept is close to Interlingua. 4/5 ⭐️ 28. Statistical Machine Translation - Philip Koehn - (Second Paradigm shift which is caused by probability machines in translation fields, Philip gave crystal clear definitions of every part of how it works, must read to build a solid foundational understanding of the progress in Machine translation.) 4.2/5 ⭐️ 29. Stranger by Albert Camus - (Someone recommended this to me on Twitter (X), it's just not being accepted by a society for being authentic version of yourself, challenging the status quo, cold absurdism towards everything.) 4.1/5 ⭐️ 30. Neural Machine Translation by Philip Koehn - Again, a must read if you are in a field of AI and Machine Translation, connects to current LLMS, remember Machine Translation is the reason we got AI, in the journey for creating a better MT they accidentally created AI, ironic isn't it? (because it is (MT) about to be replaced by LLM) 4.3/5 ⭐️ 31/50. The Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan - Must read (no other comments). 4.4/5 ⭐️ @acceptthyself

Many Telegram channel administrators have these 2 "big" problems: (click on quoted area below to expand the message)
1. Cleaning up inactive users 2. Getting channel boosts (needed to post stories/videos for higher engagement) BUT Telegram doesn't have cleanup features or allow viewing all channel subscribers (for security purposes). So today I made this experimental bot that fetches almost all users from any channel (94% success rate today). Plus, it fetched 99.9% of premium users in the channel (only premium users can boost channels with their 4 boosts, but getting them to actually boost is difficult). The idea is removing those premium users (less premium users = less boosts needed) Here are the statistics of this channel: 📊 DATASET OVERVIEW: • Total Users Found: 31,294 out of 33k (94%) • Premium Users: 327 • Regular Users: 30,967 • Premium Rate: 1.04% 📱 USER ACTIVITY STATUS • Recently: 20,842 (66.6%) • Last Week: 3,478 (11.1%) • Last Month: 4,378 (14.0%) • Long Ago: 2,589 (8.3%) • Unknown: 7 (0.0%)
The boost part is savage, I know, but it solves the problem. If you're interested in experimenting with this bot, contact us @cinemagic_hd_3bot (want to see actual demand before making it public).

The human understanding is no dry light, but receives infusion from the will and affections; whence proceed sciences which may be called 'sciences as one would'. For what a man had rather were true he more readily believes. Therefore he rejects difficult things from impatience of research; sober things, because they narrow hope; the deeper things of nature, from superstition; the light of experience, from arrogance and pride; things not commonly believed, out of deference to the opinion of the vulgar. Numberless in short are the ways, and sometimes imperceptible, in which the affections colour and infect the understanding.
