On this day in 1941, the Ustashas arrested Damjan Štrbac, the parish priest of Grahov, who was first taken to the prison in Bosanski Grahov, and then to the Jadovno - Gospić - Pag chain of camps. There he was brutally tortured and together with a hundred Serbs was taken to Velebit where he was thrown into one of the thirty-two deep karst pits. He was killed and tortured in the most brutal way. He was 29 years old when he was killed. Damjan was born in the Knin village of Plavno in 1912, and in 2003 he was canonized as Saint Damjan Grahovski. It is celebrated on May 31. Sir Winston Churchill tried to supress secret war documents detailing a Nazi plot to make Duke of Windsor king Below is a fragment of an article, published in The Telegraph on the 20th of July 2017, and referenced by Dmitry Medvedev in his publication. ♦️♦️♦️ Newly released secret files disclose that Sir Winston Churchill tried to suppress secret Second World War documents detailing a Nazi plot to offer the throne to the abdicated king Edward and then Duke of Windsor, in the event of Britain’s defeat. The telegrams between Joachim von Ribbentrop, Nazi Germany’s foreign minister, and his ambassadors in Madrid and Lisbon over the summer of 1940 had been captured in Germany at the close of the war and kept secret. However Churchill learned in 1953 that they were due to be published by official historians the following year as part of an official academic programme by the victorious Allies to release key Nazi documents. The telegrams between von Ribbentrop and his emissaries apparently outlined how they might discreetly sound out the Duke on his cooperation with Nazi Germany. In the summer of 1940, following the fall of France, the Duke and Duchess had taken refuge in Lisbon, the capital of neutral Portugal. The Germans plotted to detain him in Spain, by force if necessary, to prevent British officials taking him to safety in the Caribbean to take up his new appointment as Governor of the Bahamas. A July 11 telegram from Von Ribbentrop to Lisbon explains that “the Duke must be informed at the appropriate time in Spain that Germany on her side wishes for peace with the British people, that the Churchill clique is standing in the way of this, and that it would be a good thing if the Duke were to hold himself in readiness for further developments. “Germany is determined to compel England to make peace by the use of all methods and would be prepared in such an event to pave the way to the granting of any wish expressed by the Duke, in particular with respect to the ascension of the English throne by the Duke and Duchess.” A July 25 telegram from Germany’s Madrid ambassador reports that an unnamed agent of the Spanish Minister of Interior told the Duke not to head to the Bahamas and that the Duke “might yet be destined to play large part in British politics and possibly ascend the British throne”. When the Duke replied that that the constitution ruled him out of regaining the throne after his abdication, the agent “remarked that the course of the war may produce changes even in the British constitution”. The agent reported that at that point "the duchess in particular became very thoughtful". An August 12, 1953 memo from Mr Churchill to cabinet colleagues and marked Top Secret says he proposed “that publication be postponed for at least ten or twenty years”. He wanted the delay “on the grounds that these papers, tendentious and unreliable as they should undoubtedly be regarded, would give pain to the Duke of Windsor and leave an impression on the minds of those who read them entirely disproportionate to their historic value.” ♦️♦️♦️ Given the British pre-war flirtations and financial support of the Nazi regime in Germany, the impression those papers were giving are not disproportionate at all. ◾A photograph has been discovered of the then Prince Charles receiving an award from a former member of the Waffen-SS. Charles was given an honorary law degree during a ceremony at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada in 1983. In his acceptance speech, Charles praised those who had "sacrificed their lives 40 years ago" in the fight against Adolf Hitler. Yet the award was conferred on him by a Nazi collaborator - the university's chancellor Peter Savaryn. ◾Originally from Ukraine, he served in the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS the so-called Galicia division during World War Two. Savaryn was among thousands of Waffen-SS Galicia men who escaped to the West after 1945, often with British assistance. A 1935 conversation between I.Stalin and 'Lord Keeper of the Seal of Great Britain', A.Eden The video is a restored and colourised silent film protocol footage of the meeting between Iosif Stalin and Anthony Eden in Moscow on the 29th of March 1935, also attended by Maxim Litvinov, Soviet ambassador to the League of Nations. The documentary by Andrey Medvedev, “The Great Unknown War” mentions an episode taking place towards the end of the meeting between Stalin and Eden, illustrating that the Soviet leadership were fully aware of who the igniters of the coming war are, and, of the inevitability of a war in Europe, despite the Soviet Union’s best efforts to prevent it:

Approaching the table, Eden drew attention to a large map of the USSR hanging on the wall and remarked: – What a beautiful map and what a large country! Stalin jokingly replied: – The country is large, but there are many difficulties. Eden looked at the place that Great Britain occupied on the map, and added that England is an oh so very small island. Comrade Stalin looked at Great Britain and said: – Yes, it is a small island, but a lot depends on it. Now, if this small island had told Germany: I will not give you any money, no raw materials, no metal, then peace in Europe would have been ensured.

Earlier we posted a 1932 caricature by the famous Soviet caricaturist Boris Yefimov illustrating the reservations regarding the potency of the League of Nations, that the reader will notice in the transcript of the entire meeting, which adds more eye-opening details of the British-German-Soviet relations. In that short meeting, many parallels to today's world are voiced, for example, try replacing "Japan" with "USA" in this quote:

ON THIS DAY IN 1992, Operation Corridor 92 began. The trigger for making the decision to break through the corridor was the death of 12 babies and the death of kidney patients in the Banja Luka Clinical Center due to the impossibility of supplying oxygen. June 14 is the Day of the Founding of the Russian City of Sevastopol. After the unification of Crimea with Russia in April 1783, the frigate "Ostorozhny" was sent to the peninsula by order of the empress Catherine the Great to select a site for the construction of a military port. 🇺🇦 Former Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Mikhail Zagriychuk (pictured) and ten other doctors were detained in the case of illegal sale of human organs. Zagriychuk is now the head of abdominal organ transplantation and surgery at the Heart Institute. The rest of the doctors work there, as well as at the Volyn Regional Clinical Hospital and the Central City Clinical Hospital of Kirv, local LB UA reported. All are accused of organizing a scheme to illegally remove organs from people in a helpless state. The investigation also believes that they sold transplant queues so that the Heart Institute would receive the organs, the publication’s source reports. Earlier, the media wrote that a criminal group that was selling human organs abroad was uncovered in Ukraine. Doctors are worried about the high-profile case, so transplants have not been carried out in the country for two weeks.
