2 of 2 Month of the Precious Blood ~ July 27th The Mystery of the Precious Blood It would have redeemed them, had they needed to be redeemed, or were allowed to be redeemed. But as it was not so, it merited for them, and was the source of, all their grace. Well may the angels claim to sing the song of the Lamb, to whose outpoured Human Life they also owed so much, though not because it was outpoured. ~ Frederick William Faber, D.D., The Precious Blood: or, The Price of Our Salvation (1860)

The source of graces. 1 of 2 Month of the Precious Blood ~ July 27th The Mystery of the Precious Blood He showed them in that Blood the source of all their graces. Each Angel perhaps had thousands of beautiful graces. To many of them we on earth could give no name, if we beheld them. But they were all wonderful, all instinct with supernatural holiness and spiritual magnificence. Yet there was not a single grace in any angel which was not merited for him by the Blood of Jesus, and which had not also its type and counterpart in that Precious Blood. The Precious Blood, man’s blood, was as the dew of the whole kingdom of the angels. (continued below)

Month of the Precious Blood of Jesus~ July 27th St. Peter reminds us of the eternal decree and inestimable value of the Precious Blood and the value of our souls by calling it the Price of our Redemption. St. John incites us to love and confidence in this Blood by holding it up as the sign of God’s love and mercy for us, and as the precious burden of the triumphant song of the elect. But St. Paul is called by Father Faber the Doctor of the Precious Blood, on account of the evident fondness with which he dwells upon its merits and fruits in his epistles. ~ Rev. M. F. Walz, C. PP. S., Why Is Thy Apparel Red? or Glories of the Precious Blood (1914).

2 of 2 July 26th ~ St. Anne ~ Mother of Our Blessed Lady (continued from above) At Rome, in the patriarchal basilica of St. Paul, the precious relic of the arm of St. Ann was venerated even in the days of St. Bridget of Sweden, who obtained a very small portion of it as a gift. St. Ann then appeared to her and showed her how to venerate and take care of the sacred relics. Leo XIII and Benedict XV have given several fragments of this arm of S. t. Ann to clebrated sanctuaries dedicated to her in Canada and in Normandy, where God has been pleased to honor them by performing various miracles. Her feast was extended to the Universal Church by Pope Leo XIII in 1879. Pope Benedict XV visited her chapel outside the Vatican; this was the flrst time after 1870 that a Pope left the Vatican. ~ The New Roman Missal, 1937 St. Anne, pray for us.

July 26th ~ St. Anne ~ Mother of Our Blessed Lady Patron Saint of Christian Mothers Information regarding the parents of Our Lady comes from apocryphal literature, the earliest of which dates from about 150 A.D. However, as recorded in The Mystical city of God, Volume I by Venerable Mary of Agreda, Our Lady also revealed to her the marvelous circumstances of the holy parents given to her by God, the details of which further elaborate on these early writings. Dom Guéranger says, in The Liturgical Year, Vol. 13, “Anne was, as it were, the starting-point of redemption . . . . How justly is the mother named Anne, which signifies grace, she in whom for nine months were centered the complacencies of the Most High, the ecstasy of the angelic spirits, and the hope of all flesh!” The life of St. Anne, as found in the Protoevangelium, was used to establish these feasts of Our Lady: the Nativity (Sept. 8), the Immaculate Conception (Dec. 8), and the Presentation (Nov. 21). St. Anne, pray for us.

Month of the Precious Blood ~ July 26th The Mystery of the Precious Blood He showed them His beloved Son, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, in His Sacred Humanity, united to a lower nature than their own, and in that lower nature crowned their King and Head, to be worshipped by them with absolute and unconditional adoration. The Son of a human mother was to be their Head, and that daughter of Eve to be herself their queen. ~ Frederick William Faber, D.D., The Precious Blood: or, The Price of Our Salvation (1860)

Month of the Precious Blood of Jesus~ July 26th Devotion to the Precious Blood is as old as the world, and the devotion to this redemptive and eucharistic Blood of Jesus is as old as the Church, “For this is the chalice of my Blood of the new and eternal Testament”. The Church will continue to go down the ages till the end of time holding aloft the chalice of Blood for our adoration and propitiation. “For as often as you shall eat this bread, and drink the chalice, you shall show the death of the Lord until He come” (I Cor. XI, 26). ~ Rev. M. F. Walz, C. PP. S., Why Is Thy Apparel Red? or Glories of the Precious Blood (1914).

Prayer to St. Anne July 17 - 25 (may be said as a Novena) Glorious St. Anne, who is filled with compassion for those who invoke thee, and with love for those who suffer, heavily laden with the weight of my troubles, I cast myself at thy feet and humbly beg of thee to take the present affair which I recommend to thee, under thy special protection. [Name your request.] Vouchsafe to commend it to thy daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and lay it before the throne of Jesus, so that He may bring it to a happy issue. Cease not to intercede for me until my request is granted. Above all, obtain for me the grace of one day beholding my God face to face and with thee and Mary and all the Saints, praising and blessing Him for all eternity. Amen. Good St. Anne, mother of her who is our Life, our Sweetness and our Hope, pray to her for us, and obtain our request. (3 times) The New Key of Heaven, 1955

Month of the Precious Blood ~ July 25th The Mystery of the Precious Blood The angels wonder more than men, because they better understand it. Their superior intelligence ministers more abundant matter to their love. From the very first He invited the angels to adore it. He made their adoration a double exercise of humility, of humility towards Himself, and of humility towards us their inferior fellow-creatures. It was the test to which He put their loyalty. ~ Frederick William Faber, D.D., The Precious Blood: or, The Price of Our Salvation (1860)

2 of 2 Month of the Precious Blood of Jesus ~ July 25th “Miraculous Blood is not the Precious Blood. Neither is it like the unassumed Blood of the Passion, the Blood on the veil of Veronica, on the holy winding-sheet, on some portions of the Cross, and on the Thorns and Nails. For that had once been Precious Blood, and had only ceased to be so through the special will of our Lord, where by He willed not to reassume it at the Resurrection. The Host has miraculously bled at Mass to reassure men’s faith or to cause a reformation in their lives. Crucifixes have sweated Blood to convert sinners, or to portend some public calamities, or to show forth symbolically the ceaseless sympathy of our blessed Lord with His suffering Church. But this is not Precious Blood, nor has it ever been Precious Blood. It has never lived in our Lord. It is greatly to be venerated, in as much as it is a miraculous production of God; and it appeals especially to the reverence of the faithful, because of its being appointed to represent in figure the Precious Blood.” —Faber. ~ Rev. M. F. Walz, C. PP. S., Why Is Thy Apparel Red? or Glories of the Precious Blood (1914).

Wstał z martwych jak przepowiedział, Allelija! He rose from the dead as He foretold, Alleluia! Month of the Precious Blood of Jesus~ July 25th It is not, however, as severed from His body that the Precious Blood is now to be adored, but as it is at this moment within the living Jesus in heaven. For it must not be forgotten that on Easter morning the selfsame drops, of which His veins had been emptied for the love of us, were restored to His heart; and on Ascension Day it rose with Him to heaven, where it is now distributed like floods of crimson light throughout His sacred Body. Month of the Precious Blood ~ July 24th The Mystery of the Precious Blood Our Heavenly Father, then, may well call His creatures to gather round these marvellous Fountains, and adore His wisdom and His love. Who could have dreamed of such an invention, an invention which grows more astonishing the more we penetrate its mystery? ~ Frederick William Faber, D.D., The Precious Blood: or, The Price of Our Salvation (1860)

2 of 2 Month of the Precious Blood of Jesus ~ July 24th But this flesh and blood is all His, not as an instrument in the hands of a workman, not as a garment to be put on and worn, and then cast off, but it is substantially united to His divine nature and will be His forever like His very Godhead. So much is this the case that, even during the three days that His body lay in the tomb, while His soul was in Limbo, His Godhead ever remained united to His sacred flesh, as much as before, when it was endued with life; because it was still His, and was to be rejoined to His soul in the Resurrection. For the same reason, no drops of His Precious Blood, wherever it might have been spilt during His Passion, lost its hypostatic union with His Godhead, even while separated from the rest of His body. Mary and the Angels adored it as the Blessed Sacrament itself. It was honored, not as the holy winding-sheet, nor as the garment which was stripped from Him at His crucifixion, but with substantially the same adoration as was from all eternity due Him in heaven, since it never ceased to be united to the Eternal Word, however separated from the rest of His sacred Humanity. ~ Rev. M. F. Walz, C. PP. S., Why Is Thy Apparel Red? or Glories of the Precious Blood (1914).

Month of the Precious Blood of Jesus~ July 24th Considering the Precious Blood in its earthly origin, Faith teaches us that it came from the bosom of the Immaculate Virgin Mary and flowed in the veins of Jesus during thirty-three years until it was all spilt on Good Friday for our salvation. Month of the Precious Blood ~ July 23rd The Mystery of the Precious Blood It is by this Blood that He has created over again His frustrated creation. It is out of this Blood that all graces come, whether those of Mary, or those of the angels, or those of men. It is this Blood which merits all good things for every one. The unhappy would be more unhappy, were it not for this Blood. The wicked would be more wicked were it not for this Blood. The flames of hell would burn many times more furiously, if the shedding of this Blood had not allayed their fury. There is not a corner of God's creation, which is not more or less under the benignant controul of the Precious Blood. ~ Frederick William Faber, D.D., The Precious Blood: or, The Price of Our Salvation (1860)

Month of the Precious Blood of Jesus~ July 23rd This Precious Blood, foreshadowed in the Old Law, taken from the Immaculate Virgin Mary, the life and warmth and love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus from which it flowed as the last expression of His love, shed at seven different times with inexpressible love for us, flowing daily through the channels of the seven sacraments, is the chosen means of our redemption and sanctification. One drop of this Blood is of infinitely greater value than all the streams of blood that flowed for hundreds of years from the altars of the tabernacles and synagogues. ~ Rev. M. F. Walz, C. PP. S., Why Is Thy Apparel Red? or Glories of the Precious Blood (1914).
