National Bank of Ethiopia Governor Holds Bilateral Meeting with NDB President On the sidelines of the BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting, H.E. Dr. Eyob Tekalign, Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia, met with H.E. Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank (NDB). The meeting offered a key opportunity to discuss shared priorities and explore ways to deepen cooperation between Ethiopia and the NDB, particularly in support of the country’s national development agenda and ongoing economic transformation. This bilateral exchange follows the Ethiopian Council of Ministers’ recent approval of the country’s NDB membership, which has now been referred to Parliament for final ratification.

Ethiopia Reaffirms Reform Momentum and BRICS Commitment at Second FMCBG Meeting The Ethiopian delegation, led by National Bank of Ethiopia Governor H.E. Eyob Tekalign (PhD), participated in the Second BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) Meeting in Mumbai, India, hosted under the Indian Chairship’s theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” Addressing the key challenges and opportunities facing BRICS economies, Dr. Eyob highlighted that Ethiopia’s comprehensive fiscal, monetary, financial sector, and exchange rate reforms continue to strengthen macroeconomic stability and financial resilience amid a volatile global economic landscape that disproportionately impacts developing nations.

Additionally, the Governor welcomed progress on the Contingent Reserve Arrangement (CRA) Treaty amendments aimed at strengthening the framework as a robust financial safety net. He urged that the onboarding process for new members explicitly consider each country’s stage of development, financial needs, and absorption capacity. Dr. Eyob reaffirmed Ethiopia’s dedication to the group’s shared vision, emphasizing the nation’s readiness to collaborate constructively in advancing its strategic priorities.

NBE Governor Holds Bilateral Meeting with Reserve Bank of India Governor The Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia, H.E. Dr. Eyob Tekalign, held a productive bilateral meeting with the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Mr. Sanjay Malhotra, on the sidelines of the BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Mumbai. The two Governors exchanged views on opportunities for collaboration between Ethiopia and India, particularly in the financial and banking sectors. They agreed to establish a joint technical team to identify and explore feasible areas of cooperation and further strengthen financial sector ties between the two countries.

የኢትዮጵያ ብሔራዊ ባንክ በአዊ ዞን ለተጋላጭ ቤተሰቦች የመኖሪያ ቤት መሠረት በመጣል፣ የትምህርት እቃዎችን በማከፋፈል እና በዛፍ ተከላ ኘሮግራም ላይ በመሳተፍ ለማህበረሰቡ ልማት ያለውን ቁርጠኝነት አረጋግጧል። እነዚህ ስራዋች የባንኩ ለብሔራዊ ልማት፣ ለአካባቢ ዘላቂነት እና በመላ ኢትዮጵያ ማህበረሰብ ክፍሎችን ለመገንባት የሚሰራውን ስራ የሚያሳይ ቀጣይ ድጋፍ ነው። የኢትዮጵያ ብሔራዊ ባንክ ገዥ ዶ/ር እዮብ ተካልኝ በአዊ ብሔረሰብ አስተዳደር ዞን ማኅበረሰብ ዘንድ ስለተደረገው አቀባበል ከልብ አመስግነዋል። በየትኛውም አካባቢ የምንኖር ኢትዮጵያውያን እጅግ ተቆራኝተን በአንድነት የምንኖር፣ ሕዝቦች ነን ያሉት የባንኩ ገዥ፣ ይህም አንድነታችን ማንም ሊከፋፍለው የማይችል ልዩ መለያችን ነውና ሁላችንም ጠብቀን ልናቆየው ይገባል ሲሉ ክቡር ገዥ ተናግረዋል። ዶክተር እዮብ አያይዘውም ”የአዊ ማኅበረሰብ ኢትዮጵያዊ አንድነቱን አስጠብቆ የኖረ፣ የጥንካሬ ምልክት የሆነ ሕዝብ ነው” ሲሉ ገልጸዋል። የክልሉ ርዕሰ መስተዳድር አማካሪ አቶ ባዘዘው ጫኔ የኢትዮጵያ ብሔራዊ ባንክ ገዥ ዶ/ር እዮብ ተካልኝና የባንኩ ሠራተኞች በሥፍራው በመገኘታቸው በሕዝቡ ዘንድ ከፍተኛ ደስታ የፈጠረ እንደነበር ለባንኩ የኮርፖሬት ኮሚዩኒኬሽንና ዓለምአቀፍ ግንኙነት ዳይሬክቶሬት ተናግረዋል። ”የኢትዮጵያ ብሔራዊ ባንክ ከአዲስ አበባ 800 ኪሎ ሜትር ርቀት ተጉዞ፣ በዚያ ላይ ከዋና መንገድ 30 ኪሎ ሜትር ወደ ገጠር ገብቶ ይህን ያህል የወገን አለኝታነቱን ማረጋገጡ በአገው ብሔረሰብም ሆነ በክልሉ ሕዝብ ዘንደ ያለው ከበሬታ የላቀ እንዲሆን አስችሎታል።“ ሲሉ ተናግረዋል።

The 2026 AACB Continental Seminar, hosted by the National Bank of Ethiopia opened in Addis Ababa, bringing together central bankers, policymakers, regulators, and financial sector leaders from across the continent to discuss “Financial Stability and Financial Inclusion in Africa in an Era of Increasing Digital Services and Artificial Intelligence.” Opening the seminar, H.E. Dr. Eyob Tekalign, Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia, underscored the importance of strengthening regional collaboration and embracing responsible innovation to build a secure, inclusive, and resilient financial system for Africa.
