The Road Not Taken
Daniel had always imagined his life differently. Although he had built a successful career in finance, he couldn't help wondering how things might have turned out if he had followed his passion for photography instead.
"I wish I weren't so afraid of taking risks," he admitted one evening. "If I were more adventurous, I would have a completely different life by now."
His friends disagreed. They insisted that he had achieved more than most people ever would. Still, Daniel would rather they didn't remind him of his success every time he questioned his choices. What he really wanted was reassurance that it wasn't too late to start over.
Lately, he had begun to feel that it was time he stopped defining himself by other people's expectations. If more people were willing to accept uncertainty, perhaps they wouldn't spend so much time regretting the opportunities they never took.
